I think eye appeal has a lot to do with it too. I’ve been picking up a lot of Optic Durant’s in the Nets jersey and the non numbered Holo is going for 5 times as much as the Purple. But the ‘silver holo’ I think that’s what they’re calling it on eBay looks so much better even though it isn’t as rare. From this video, I’d go out on a limb and say the blue velocity luka will be the most popular out of the parallels other than the holo. Differs by each player depending on what card looks good. But that’s just my theory! I also agree that we’re in for a big correction and people shouldn’t go all in on base cards. Thanks for another great video and the inspiration!

I agree. I picked up the Purple on the Zion as I think that color goes best with that card. Blue looks best with the Luka. Prices are def gonna blast off once people realize the rarer ones will be worth more later

Just looked at all of them again and the Blue looks soooo good! The greens and blues seem to look the best with Luka depending on the jersey in the picture. The green mosaic prizm second year give and go is one of my favorite looking luka cards.

I too once thought like this, and still feel there is value in these lesser known parallels but the general public seems to be less enthused in navigating the many obscure variations of Optic & Prizm parallels. Panini could do away with these unnumbered parallels, and most people in the hobby would not miss them. The parallels have become too watered down with dozens of variations and are bad for trading in bulk.

i agree with this, but at the end of the day i think collector's will become more savvy and realize the rarity behind them. i hope they do get away with them but that would only increase their value more. as an OG collector from the 90s this makes my head hurt coming back into the hobby trying to google odds and pop reports.

Great work Matt, love your videos. Always getting good leads from your content. Scooped up tons of high end Siakam Optic parallels after your top 10 video a few weeks ago as base prizm was exploding. I was grabbing Raw Luka hoops RC's for around $50 but i think I'll shift some of that money to Optic. Crazy that these Optic parallel PSA 9's are selling for under $200. Really have to diversify on any given player because who knows what the hobby is going to prefer a year from now.

Nothing beats the white sparkle in terms of pure beauty. The holo has the flashy eye appeal without the seizure-inducing design and for lots of collectors thats more important than rarity.

Is silver and holo in optic the same or are they different cards? Is silver (holo) more sought after even though it's not a numbered card? Thanks for making this video, keep up the great work.

The PSA population report is not the determining factor.... it's more about the true total population, and how much it would cost to pull the desired parallel.... Blue Velocity was 3 per 10-15$ rack pack at launch.... where as Holo's were like 4-5 per hobby box. on top of that, people prefer the regular silver holo/prizm variation.. over a color like purple.

Just because a Purple has less Pop than a Silver, does not mean it is rarer (aka hard to pull from a pack/box). Pop report does not always indicate rarity. I've opened a ton of Optic and I can tell you that the silver Holo is a much harder parallel to pull than the others you listed. The sales market isn't imbalanced, its the Pop reports that are imbalanced and fairly meaningless in this particular instance where it concerns sales.

The reason for the price deviation could be because you are looking at PSA 9 reports. Maybe the PSA 10 reports are much different and the quantity and price of the 10 is driving the price for the 9. I haven't looked at it but this could be the reason for the price difference. Great video!

I just bought a Luka blue velocity for that price 3 days ago directly after watching this video. (GASP! Market manipulatation!!! GASP!) Granted it was in a 2 card lot with a Trae Young blue velocity and the lot cost $285. But that's basically $175ish for luka and $100ish for Trae. That was the last anywhere close to that price though...everything else was around $280 and up.

2019 Optic holos are clean looking. Plain and simple. Rarity isn’t always reflected in price. I like for instance the blue velocity for Luka because it goes with mavs colors. I personally like pink cards. If you’re looking to flip when the season continues I like Lebron purple anything optic.

Silvers n holo’s will always be the king of optic/prizm/select because they used to be SP. And ppl are holdin’ onto that still. My personal opinion. And also imo i think theyre by far the nicest looking. Just a clean/sharp rainbow sheen

I have been trying to make this point this week on sports investor about the 2018 Prizm Luka Doncic Auto cards. You mention you are doing a video on that next or soon. Take a look at all the population of the Prizm cards like thousands then notice the auto versions only around 100 to 140 but a third to half the cost of Prizm Silver non-auto and only a few hundred more than the base. But in every other sport besides basketball the auto versions are the highest cost. Which would you rather have the auto version Prizm that only 139 others exits in PSA 10 or a base Prizm where over 17,000 have been graded by PSA and over 11,000 of those are PSA 10? Crazy how even when I state it on Sport Investors FB page hardly anyone understood when I tried explaining market correction and supply and demand. I even looked and purchased another one the next day bc no one else had, plus I noted I was not selling the few I had yet so was not trying to manipulate pricing in anyway. Prizm auto are not the auto everyone in the hobby chases. Those are contenders autos. If you look at those in PSA 10 for Luka, you will see they sell for quite a bit more than the silver.

As more investors get into the hobby, I think they are looking for the simple answer to invest in and for me thats the base and holo. I worry that looking at pop reports on things like flash and purple might be overthinking it. Purples have been a bargain but really aren't sought after and I think because of the low demand, a lot less of them get subbed. But you could be totally right. I just feel as though if the purples were to spike, it probably would've already happened.

Someone needs to do a video on all of the different types of panini cards, including samples of the numbered cards. They are so hard to identify if you aren't dealing with this brand of cards enough. Especially when trying to prep for PSA submissions. I have to attempt to identify if it's a shock, or wave, or whatever. So difficult. I wish Panini would put something on their website identifying the types.

I like Optics 2018 and 2019 parallels more than Prizm. Optic issue is centering same as Prizm. Hope in the future value increase the same as the prizm.

This could be a possible issue. People bought these up and didn't open them when they thought these products from 2018 might be worth a lot later. So we have no ideal what is left unopen out there. People are not opening them because now they're too expensive.
