Everyone talks about the Hawks who drafted and traded Luka for Trae Young, but the Suns had the first pick along with Luka’s former Euro League coach at the time, Igor Kokoshov. Not to mention Vlade Divac’s Kings took Marvin Bagley with the second pick when he was more familiar with Luka’s game overseas. DeAndre Ayton’s future in Phoenix is even in question considering he still hasn’t signed his extension deal yet. Hawks lost out on the best player in Luka but Trae Young is obviously the second best star in the draft and it isn’t close so it wasn’t a regrettable trade whatsoever.
@MrJones0192 жыл бұрын
Well... You argument is not all that bad, your conclusion is wrong. The trade is regrettable because they had the best player drafted and traded him for a much worse player (even though Trae is good). You have to judge the Hawks for what the Hawks did, they had Luka and passed on him. Simple. I wonder, if people are buying a $10 shirt for $60 and I exchange my $1000 shirt for your $100, how does what the others do influence in whether I'm being stupid or not?
@sherijms42 жыл бұрын
@@MrJones019 My conclusion was that the Hawks, Suns, and Kings missed out on the best player in Luka. Is he not the best player? My point was that only two of the three teams that passed up on Luka actually regret the decision. You think the Hawks regret taking Trae Young? Obviously not, (and that doesn’t mean they think Trae is better) but he certainly is a corner stone franchise player just as Luka is. What Luka is doing in the playoffs this year is what Trae did last year. Both guys have proven that they are capable of carrying an offense without a second co-star. The same cannot be said about Ayton and Bagley.
@merlotpapi49302 жыл бұрын
I think Trae Young is a good enough player and I think outside of how bad this season was due to injuries, the Hawks did a great job building around Trae's weaknesses. The biggest worry for Luka has been/is that the Mavs do no effort in building a team around his weaknesses. It's just a bunch of role players plus him. Brunson and Dinwiddie stepped up but imagine if he had a star star with him the way Trae has big lanky guys that can defend on the team.
@allencastro93442 жыл бұрын
@@merlotpapi4930 TF do you mean the Mavs doesn't do any effort in building a team around Luka? Are we watching the same Mavs team that choked the Suns and Jazz in defense? Luka is a beast, but that elite defense that made Suns only score 27 in a half certainly did look like a good help. The Mavs did a trade for a 2nd all star but it was a bust, so they're certainly trying just didn't get the luck needed for those so they went and get defensive players to cover for Luka instead.

Luka sinking 3s and then back pedaling down court all the while smiling at fans like he just got out of Sunday sermon is forever embedded in my mind. That guy is an iceberg and I absolutely love him.

Luka doing this against the team that could have drafted him number 1 unstead of Ayton seems so fitting.
