I completely disagree with your assessment about Gusto payroll support vs QB payroll. I switched from Gusto to QB payroll because of the ridiculous process involved to reach someone. Additionally, the people at Gusto do not seem to have in-depth knowledge of payroll and accounting vs the support people at Intuit. This is first hand knowledge from a few years ago.

Been with Gusto for 3.5 yrs. Gusto doesn’t have a dedicated phone line. You’ll never be able to talk with any one . Have to wait for them to reach out to your email or live chat in a couple of days. Is the 100 dollar referral worth lying for?

She hasn't even used Paychex, she is using word-of-mouth examples. This is unfortunately a lack of credibility and results in a thumbs-down from me.

Hey there! Gusto for sure does have a dedicated phone line. It's available when you log in, and your account will auto-generate a number to give the team when you call. I use it often! The number is 1-800-936-0383. However, I originally made this video a few years ago, and I do admit that customer service hasn't been as good as it once was, and Gusto has owned up to that and are actively working to fix it based on my conversations with them. @@Anjuvachi Hey there! Just wanted to say that I do reply to comments, I just generally can't get to all of them, and don't actively monitor all of our older videos for comments. In terms of word-of-mouth examples, I know several small business owners that have used Paychex, plus I researched the features extensively. I can't actively use every single payroll platform I compare, however I CAN compile information from a myriad of people and sources to make recommendations. As of the time of shooting this video (December 2020), this information was all correct to my knowledge.

I stopped the video after 2:00 as soon as you said Gusto offers a great product. The reason is that Gusto's support sucks. They messed up the 401 k employee deferral when I called them to help me run it. The deduction was treated as post-tax instead of pre-tax, which I missed because I trusted Gusto. The result was a messed up 12 d in the W2. Hence filing of 941-X, which they messed up again and had to file 941-X twice. Not to mention that I missed my deadline to file the tax return while trying to sort this out. Anyway, do you know of any payroll provider in the US that allows the owner to double-check what the accountant is doing? Both Gusto & Quickbooks have told me there is no safeguard. If I have $ 200,000 k in the bank, the accountant can increase his pay, take all the $ 200,000 k, and run away. Effectively, the accountant can run away with a million-dollar payroll check, and all the owner can do is try to find him and get him arrested.

This is an older video, and I actually agree that the Gusto support has not kept up. I know they've had some staffing issues (like other companies right now). That said, they have been working on the support element and I've been providing feedback on this front, and will continue to do so as I still think their product is a great low-cost, easy-to-use fit for small business owners. For someone looking for more hands-on customer service, I'd probably recommend ADP...although it does come at a higher pricetag. It can be worth it though.

@@JamieTrull I don't think small businesses know the risk of losing their money to an unscrupulous accountant when they use Gusto. If they know this, maybe only half will use it. That said, I am still using Gusto but transfer the payroll amount to another bank every month. I can't find a payroll provider where the owner controls the accountant. When I asked someone in the FB group, I got a reply from an accountant who said they had discovered fraud done by a previous accountant; the owner knew nothing about it.

I only have 2 employees and use ADP and LOVE it. Also, you mentioned ADP cost is different every time you run payroll and that is because price varies per employee. If I were to add an employee, price would go up maybe $3 if that. You can also sign up fully virtual now, think you missed that one.

They offer everything you would need as a startup yet only cost $39/mth vs $39/wk the other companies cost. Yes I'm an affiliate for Gusto because I use them and love them. Its important to do your own research as well always. We should never immediately trust (or distrust, for that matter) a referral. I do my best to give honest reviews but I decided on Gusto for the specific reasons I mention and have talked to many other happy business owners who use them.

Fair point, though the fact that I have a referral code is in the title of the video (not hiding anything). I'm extremely careful with who I affiliate for and only recommend what I actually use and have extensively researched. Pretty much every review you see on KZbin likely has an affiliate relationship or are being paid, whether they mention it or not. While I would (and have) recommend it for free...why not also make a commission?

I'm researching before signing up with any service and I found her video to be helpful however I'm sure I will find similar video's where the person posting is promoting ADP, Quickbooks and/or Paychex's. Nonetheless, so far what I took from her video was in her experience Gusto provides a one time recurring fee whereas others like ADP charge a per payroll fee and had I not watched her video I wouldn't of known that right away. Also, I took from the video Paychex & Quickbooks aren't in her opinion as user friendly as GUSTO. Now its my job to research ALL of these companies to determine which will fit my small biz needs. Personally I didn't see anything wrong with her getting a kick back for a video she's doing for a product she clearly likes. I mean lol honestly if someone said HEY you like that ice cream your eating and you say YES & they say how would you like to help us promote the ice cream and BTW we're going to give you an incentive for helping us promote the product. Its not like its bribery lol or is it :) Who the heck would say NO to that! Anyhow...I seen your post so now I'm wondering if not GUSTO then what product do you recommend?

I am an affiliate for Gusto because I both use it for my business and love it. I don't affiliate for a single thing I don't use myself and I do a LOT of research when deciding what products to use. I also wouldn't say I'm "bashing" any companies here, just comparing them as a small biz owner.

Most of these payroll companies will take your money but provide EXTREMELY poor customer service. Once you sign up with them you will not be able to reach a representative. It's like they just sign up customers and don't hire anyone to service them. There are complaints about several of them. If you have a mistake on your payroll or taxes ....good luck!

Hey Jamie--you clearly do not know much about ADP. I get that the video is biased but your comparisons to ADP and Gusto are way off base. There is actually no upfront fees to setup your payroll with ADP. You also failed to mention that Gusto will charge you for EVERY EMPLOYEE you have in the system ADP only charge for the employees that are getting a check that pay period.

Gusto's fees are calculated based on active employees and contractors within any given month. For example, if I don't pay a contractor that month, I'm not charged the fee for that contractor.

None of these systems are an HRIS except gusto, and QuickBooks payroll is disgustingly inadequate. ADP and payxhex have poor systems bolted together and nonexistent workflow. Lesson: never let your accountant select your HR technology

Hey, Jaime Hope all is well, thanks for the great information I have used Paychex and QuickBooks both software Paychex is very smart and expensive software most of the time big companies use it because they have a budget and more than hundreds of employees which is not possible in QuickBooks as per my knowledge Paychex purposes is only process payrolls and tax filing but in the Quickbooks desktop we can do Bookkeeping payroll e payments e filing and lots of and also we can add more than one company on one subscription service if I'm wrong, please 🙏 correct me.
