I'm a big fan of "if it's not broke don't fix it" If its working for you - no need to learn a new system unless your needs change.

I used Intuit Assisted Payroll for Mac for nearly 20 years. Intuit phased out this payroll system and transferred us to QuickBooks Online Payroll. I have had nothing but problems since the move. First, they only transferred the calendar year of data so when I went to run a report for my workers comp audit I only had partial info. Had to go digging into archive boxes for the rest and calculate manually. This year after I have run payroll, and the entire payroll batch goes missing in their system even though I have printed my reports and employee paychecks. This resulted in my payroll tax payments being incorrect and assesed penalties. Really not sure how an entire payroll run can go missing multiple times. Customer service is tedious with long wait times and unknowledgeable reps, transferring me in circles only to explain the same issue again to another person. I'm glad to have your recommendation of Gusto as it seems like it may be time for us to move our payroll again.

I wanted to ask if I am running an Insurance Agency out of my home office with an admin working offsite and my wife as an employee, which service would be best if I am an S Corp? I read below (doesn't offer household employee) so would that effect my situation?

Hey there! So the "household employee" is typically talking about a person you are employing for household things, like perhaps a nanny. Those people are technically employees of the household vs. employees of the business. Your wife wouldn't fall into that category, since she's an employee of the business. How does Gusto handle tip pooling? Square Payroll just caused a minor uproar in their community by announcing the pending elimination of the *existing* ability to proportionally split tips among all eligible employees by pay period. They will soon only support allocating tips by day or even transaction... There are quite a few people looking for a viable alternative to Square, now, especially among the quick service/cafe space.

In case of scorp and I have one employee only working full time and I as an owner don’t work. Do I need to run payroll for me and my employee or I can take distributions and run payroll for my employee.

If you aren't actively working in your business, you don't need to pay yourself a salary.

I use Gusto personally and only recommend what I use. That said, I just took a look at BBB as I hadn't been aware. It does look like most of the complaints are within the last few months, which makes sense as there have been some customer service issues that they have acknowledged publicly that they are working to remedy, as I have seen that service decline in the last year as well. I still think it is a great, affordable, and easy-to-use platform but they do have some customer service issues they need to get under control ASAP, I agree.

Gusto suspended my account and gave me the run-around when I asked for an explanation. When I asked for help with detailed explanation, I got some bogus bland email. Not sure what I should do.

This can happen if there are unpaid bills or certain tax info that is missing. Usually they will give you a warning on your dashboard that your account will be suspended if action isn't taken on those items.
