It's interesting that they all remember Giambi as such a high strike out guy when that wasn't really the case for most of his career. His career high was 140 in 2003 and that's his high by a good amount. His strike out rate went up a bit as he got older and his bat slowed but even then he never had obscene strike out numbers like Thome for example averaging a K per game basically every single season. Giambi in his prime had a fantastic strike out rate for someone providing that kind of power. He wasn't someone that you could get out outside of the zone much.
@davewills94 Жыл бұрын
It’s a shame Giambi tainted his legacy with roids, cuz as you just mentioned, he really was an amazing hitter who LOOKED like he would strike out a lot but didn’t.
@richard_nj Жыл бұрын
Well, obviously they're gonna remember Giambi's time with the Yanks way more than his time in Oakland, some of the guys in this vid aren't even old enough to remember that in the first place, and Giambi simply struck out more in New York than he did before. His 5 full seasons with the Yanks are his 5 highest single season strikeout totals, his K% jumped up by about a third compared to when he was with Oakland.

Man, I love watching Max in everything he's in, but I haven't been a fan of Higher or Lower since he took over. It's really not that fun of a game to watch, or play along with, when every player is SO close. Like the point of the game always seemed to be more about generally knowing where your ceiling and floor was, and being able to figure out who was higher or lower based on what you know about the player. But the last few weeks have been guys that are within 1-2% of one another, and at that point, it's not a game anymore, it's just a guessing contest.

Mark McGuire played for SIXTEEN YEARS. Even if u account for injuries he played almost TWELVE FULL SEASONS worth of games. You’re objectively wrong. He’s also got more WAR in his career than anyone u think is good or anyone u like. Time to start respecting some of these quote unquote Steroid guys. Everyone has been cheating at baseball always and forever in different ways since it was created. We have to stop. It’s no different than Babe Ruth getting to chose the location and speed of the pitch thrown. Which was thrown no faster than like 50-60 mph and usually slower lob balls. His stats shouldn’t count either and u dummies think he the best ever. It’s insanity
