Which reselling platform is best? Ebay, Mercari or Poshmark

My vote is for eBay. However , as a seller do whatever it takes to crush shipping costs. As a Canadian, yes I do live in Canada, I can not tell you how many times I have not bought items not because of the price of the item, not because of converting from USD to CAD, but Because of shipping cost .period. Full stop. And I cannot for the life of me understand why seller A manages to Ship identical item for less $$$ than Seller B. Just my opinion 😊🇨🇦❤️

In regards to shipping cost I just always assumed that seller A was just charging the actual shipping cost. And seller B is trying to make some money on the higher shipping cost!!... But don't know if anyone ever really knows the reason!!??!!

I won’t ship overseas again, since customs likes to open up packages & ruin vintage items 😅 so if you find a seller who is willing to fill out the forms etc. I would pay the extra cost. We hunt down “source,” mend & clean items, photograph & list, shipping etc. and than have to wait days to get paid. It’s a ton of work!! We do it because we need the money “working class people”

I’ve heard that shipping on ebay isn’t always set by the seller - they can opt to get it automatically managed by the platform… Less hassle for the seller, but a shit deal for us international buyers :(

I’m surprised you don’t see a lot of luck with FB groups. I literally sold all of my dad’s farm equipment in FB groups. And it sold in HOURS. Totally crazy.

fb is really area specific in my experience. if you don't have a large target group looking for a specific thing in your immediate area fb marketplace isn't the greatest option. also younger people don't use fb. and it can also be a regional thing. it really just depends on demographics

I can see where Ebay would work best for the vintage. Poshmark works well for the bigger sellers. My daughter in Florida makes a full time living selling on Poshmark. Lots of designer, brand name and vintage easily found in the Sarasota area. She doesn't play all their games like having parties and stuff. I think she has been successful because she has a certain style, brands and type of merchandise for sale so she has lots of repeat business and 250K followers. She says Poshmark works for her because of the bundling. People can choose many items from your shop and you can make a deal with them and ship it in one box. She sells about 30 or 40 items per day, but sometimes one person might be ordering 8 or 10 items. I will never sell on Mercari again because thieving scam buyers can rip you off and Mercari does not have your back like Ebay does.

This has pretty much been my experience. My mother in law has a huge following on Poshmark. Mercari is full of scammers. And I sell most of my items with good success on EBay. I don’t sell exclusively clothing though, I also sell a lot of collectibles.

I've been a reseller for over 25 years and just the past few years on Posh and Mercari. It's always pretty dead during the summer. Listing daily always brings more sales and that's why you sold right away and then it cooled. I always end listings before the 30 day mark and then "Sell Similar" which makes them appear as new listings. I haven't sold much on Mercari since they changed their format and Posh has been super slow. But this was a fun video! Thanks

Selling on posh is mostly about brand. Good brand equals good views. It’s just a whole different selling site with sharing and being social.

Sometimes it's just all about which one those platforms has THAT EXACT dress I am hunting in my size gurl! Or close to my size.... eeshhh... with the least bit of take a tuck in here or there!!! With your mannequin - I like to bung a bra on there and pad it with whatever, for that fuller bust look. You can do the same for the bottom with underwear sewn up at the bottom, prod a hole in for the stand and pad them out again. Means you can add/subtract to get a size that fits the clothing, helps make it look better for photographing.

Hi! I’ve been binging your channel for the last several days. Love it! You have my kind of humor! I’m commenting/questioning on this post simply because my ADHD brain is focused on this at the moment, but I’ll be back on the pattern & sewing posts shortly. What was the experience with customers like with ebay returns/post sale/etc? Any experience in selling a “lot”? I have a huge (yeah, “huge” is a relative term to most, but think of a two car+workshop size garage filled(yeah, really REALLY filled to ceiling) with 90 gallon tubs, bins, racks, boxes and all sizes of containers and such chock full of everything from linen, fabric, notions and buttons (Good Lord the buttons!), books & patterns to sweaters, rompers, shirts, socks, ties, aprons, dresses, skirts, hats, shoes, purses, crinolines, etc.-and I do mean etc. including housewares - from 1920s to 1990s (mostly around 1940s, 50s & 60s)). Long story, but once upon a time I wanted to have a vintage shop. Medical issues and life have gotten in the way of my retirement plan, and well… things change. If you’re ever in the Huntsville Alabama region, gimmie a shout. Anyway, all that to say, once I did do some ebay selling, but it’s been ages ago. I’m wondering if it’s worth doing a piece by piece or just being done with it in a Lot sale. Thanks for your time.

I’m contemplating selling clothing and accessories. I have kept many of my work clothes for the last 50 years. I also have a very good source for thrifted high end clothing. I’ve always said I couldn’t sell a dying horse a drink of water, but i’m retired, 75yo, with lots of things. I really need to downsize and need the extra funds for home repairs, etc. I’ve already given to charity what I don’t think would sell. Your information is very helpful.

Go ahead and list whatever you have, even if YOU don't think it will sell. People like, are looking for the weirdest things. Also, price it high, it looks more desirable. Slowly lower price if no offers are forthcoming and only donate after you run out of patience, or hope.

Thank you for your entertaining video! I also sell on these 3 platforms and sell about equally on Poshmark and ebay. Admittedly , I have an app to autoshare my PM items. Mercari is slow for me. You can make specific price offers on the app, you just have to backspace and change the price.

You are really making me think. Maybe I should focus on vintage when I go back onto eBay. I used to be a reseller there and I moved out of the country where it’s not possible. I’ve been considering my business model and focus for when I move back again. One thing I know from being a reseller previously is that people obviously often make really ridiculously low offers just in hopes that you will take them but if you offer them a reasonable offer like the five dollars lot of people take that even if they’ve tried to get 25 off of the price. They are still happy to get five off the price. They’re just wheeler dealers and they’re looking for a really good deal, but they also really want the thing

eBay seller here. i take pictures on my phone, edit them, turn on wifi so pictures can go to photos/google. then do the listing. it's easier for me to work on the computer. Also store photos in files.

eBay is the largest selling platform. More eyes on your items. Just make sure you give the best description and info and photos on eBay. I think eBay is the worst with siding with buyer on returns. Posh is the best with no customer returns if you represent your Item Correctly

I'm glad eBay works as intended in the USA, because here in the UK it's absolutely DIRE. I never get any views on my items, no matter how good my photos and descriptions, how many of their criteria I fill in etc... I've no idea what's going on with it. I'm gonna give it a try with something I'm hoping to get bids on, and we'll see if it works. We have Vinted here which is becoming my preferred platform, it sounds like it works similarly to Mercari in the fact that the buyer is the one who pays the fees, so as a seller it's very easy (plus, nothing expires, so you can just leave your items on forever and send offers when someone likes them). I both sell and buy on there and I've been lucky so far, but they don't take everything and their filters are very lightweight, which is annoying.

I prefer facebook marketplace if I'm trying to find something large or a general idea. Although, I did manage to score a new embroidery machine at half off on Ebay because the local ones were from the floppy disc era. I like old tech, but since I knew that I wanted to basically solely do custom designs, figuring out **all** of that translating and stupid expensive proprietary crap... yeah no. Mercari made me angry recently as a purchaser. They need to work on their return system. Seller listed an item wrong and so I did not get what I ordered. So these days I have decided to not use them for awhile.

I buy on eBay. Its pretty easy to buy from, abet can have some issues in this sorting filters for me. It's been interesting to find plus size there, tho their shoe filters/how shoe listings show up are still ATROCIOUS.

It depends who you ask and what you sell. For me, eBay is dead if I’m not willing to pay exorbitantly high promoted listing fees - so as far as fees go, eBay is neck and neck if not higher in a lot of cases than Posh when you take promoting into account. But I mainly sell men’s clothes, and never gave Posh much thought. Now thinking of giving Posh the attention I’ve given eBay, since it feels like their platform just ain’t it anymore for me.

I am 65. I buy clothes most on Depop but patterns on Etsy and EBay. I’m told Depop is a place for generations much younger than me. I have purchased on thredUP, but it got really frustrated with trying to find different things in there like features. I bought at least one thing on Mercari. I really do find what I like on Depop for some reason I haven’t bought from Amazon in about six months.

Postmark is not a great place to sell your Items on. I ended up closing down my account because of fraudulent transactions again with them. The sad thing is you can’t call postmark with this kind of thing. I would stay away from using postmark at all costs people. I’m thinking about contacting the better business bureau in regards to postmark allowing fraud to happen. Is postmark really this bad. This is now the second time I had fraud happening to me on poshmark? I sell all my stuff on Mercari only.

You just need to set up a Paypal account and you shop anywhere and pay with that. They are the only ones to have your credit card or bank account or whatever you give them. I have never had an issue in 15 years. Plus they have your back if you get ripped off by someone on Facebook or whatever they give your money back.

People post fake ads all the time on Ebay and it is way too full of foreign spammers. My husband buys fishing equipment and there is a guy in Korea who posts something he doesn't really have for $300 when they go for $500 normally. He takes the money and posts again the next day under a different account, same picture.

I follow Kat the nurse flipper who regularly dies videos onnthis. And she has a great ine on List Perfectly which is an AI who writes the hook line and posts, making selling online a game changer. And List Perfectly also removes the listing after sold. Again Kat stressed was a game changer!!!!! Much love Steph!!! I love you sooooo much. Want to meet you.....yall need a serious parasite cleanse to rid your body of these issues. Wal Mart stopped carrying the all organic ingredient sauce made in Italy. Was so delicious you could eat it from the jar. I wonder if this market even clears the bio engeneered ingredients in each and every item on the grocery shelf. Thanks Steph!!!
