What started as a bit of extra cash for the odd holiday turned into neccessary income for our family of 4 due to the cost of living increases, mortgage rates and so on. I can truly say without your videos I would not be able to provide the life I currently am for my wife and 2 kids! Thank you so much for your insights on having an eBay business. After 2years in i needed to decide whether i should keep at it. No doubt it can definitely bring some rewards but I've realised with its up and downs and the isolation that I need to treat it as a parttime hustle. Thanks for helping to make this decision so much easier. Love your channel.

I remember watching the first video of yours when selling my first item- oh wait, it was only a few weeks ago! I've barely listed anything and I've made hundreds. While my first sale was a bust (it got lost and my dumbass didn't add tracking) I learnt from that mistake and got to where I am now! I'm only getting started. Thank you so much! I began just over a year ago, unexpectedly was paid from a job with some video game stuff and anime dvds. Created an ebay account to make a few extra dollars and kept working a construction gig. Soon I saw that I if I worked harder at ebay, I was getting close to paying the bills. SO I jumped in full time pretty quick, it made me sink or swim and Im happy to say that ive gotten this far without clocking into a regular job in about 14 months. Such a grind to get it going but things have improved quite a bit and it's now more about refining everything. Thanks for the video, I appreciate it!

Also it works like this. Put money on products that you can afford to sit for 6 months on, i. E u can do without that money. Also curtains and fabrics are brilliant! Don't over look them. I made several hundred pounds on curtains and fabric (20 metewa of it!)

Part time seller here , I think that’s where it sits best, it means 20% of my time is spent sourcing , packing and posting in the week alongside my full time and my house and family Saturdays are sourcing days and gets me out the house and I love car boots , the best part is sourcing and I it get to meet and chat to some nice people And that’s the kicker, it has to be relaxed , it has to be fun , I see the full time resellers and the soul of that is gone it becomes all about Margins.

Completely devastated , I moved away, and in with my son, not a penny to my name. I cannot work full time. I am so glad a KZbin reseller actually spoke a bit of truth about ebay and income. A lot 'glamorise' it making it seem easy but it's far from easy. I've been selling on ebay for nearly 15 years. My store is large...6000 items roughly...but it is far from a full time livable income these days and I make good profit! I also have a physical shop (hospitality) so ebay is 'extra' for me but I think people need to realise that you do need a stable job with guaranteed $s coming in because if ebay teaches you anything, it's that sales are NOT guaranteed. Neither is stock especially if your sourcing from op shops, garage sales and marketplace. It's getting harder to find stock as people are becoming wiser to what items are actually worth. I have tossed up the idea of a KZbin channel...not for income (wouldn't say no to it 😂) but just for fun. Bit of reselling, sourcing, flipping burgers...not sure anyone would want to watch but with 5 kids, 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 3 cats, a burger shop and ebay...my life is far from dull! 😂 Good luck with what your doing. It obviously works for you and I hope your KZbin/ebay only increases.

If you only pick up high sell through rate items you can make it full time and you don't need a regular job outside of ebay. Sales are guaranteed if you pick up necessities things people need and use. If they're in high or very high demand you'll sell them. But that's the key the most important thing.

I started selling on eBay in 2009. At that time, I could literally list something, run to the loo, return and it was sold. But, it really depends upon what you’re selling. Also, they started using an algorithm that many feel has caused them to not sell anything. A few have found they could list things, for years and never sell them. This is also a change in the market, however. When you have more people living minimally, it can be hard to sell anything , but a brand new iPhone for $15. You just can’t get any traction. I also wonder if people are shadow banned, either by the algorithm or purposely, where you can list all you want and no one will ever see that listing. This can cause you a lot of work and wasted time and money.

Such a good and honest video, thanks for this one! Really interesting to hear you say that you'd recommend not doing eBay full time, as I think there are many around KZbin and social media who try sell that dream. I remember seeing some revenue targets for your store and wondering how that was even paying the rent. Not surprised that in reality it's a combo of eBay and KZbin that pay the bills. I've gotten into a pretty good swing of doing eBay in the morning and then heading off to my full-time job, and your videos have been a massive motivation and help for that, so thank you again. Question: do you ever think about what you might do after eBay? I don't think I've got any plans to take my store full time, but eBay has given me a small taste of the "entrepreneurial" lifestyle and I find myself really loving it, even with the struggles and stresses that come attached. More than anything else, eBay has gotten me wondering "what's next?"

I make about half my income on Ebay right now and it was about 1/3rd of my income 6 months ago. For me blu-rays have been selling like crazy too and some dvds. I think in time I will be making more then what I do at work in 6 months. Only thing that are hurting my sales right now are lack of funds, or lack of time, or lack of energy to put into doing it with me working full time as well. I turns down about 80% of the times I used to buy. My best buys over the past couple months have buying 120 blu-rays for $1.50 each, also toys, and crazy rare board games. Those items i';ve already made more then my money back and everything I have left of my items from those bundled is pure profit now, I hope you grow over time to a point when .

@Aaramlias5 ай бұрын
@@YasirAbdurRehman I charge $5.00 CND for the shipping which covers the shipping and the envelope and sometimes some of the Ebay fees, I've also been getting so many of my dvds for about 50 cents to $1.00 each and i've been looking for harder to find stuff since I have around 750 dvds now listed. i haven't lsot money on them in a long time and people don't mind paying that here in Canada. Blu-rays i've been getting for about $2.00 CNd each on average and i've been selling them on average for about $7 to $20 CND or more each lately and they've been selling fast. It might help having the amount of them I have too that might help the sales. I also have 100% feedbacks right now am always quick to respond to people asking questions if i'm online at the time. I've been selling for a long time too so it helps when you have a great reputation on Ebay too to get more in funds from stuff. My suggestion if you are not making money on them is to look for stuff that's not so common and cheaper and stuff in near perfect shape or better. People love buying stuff that they don't have to worry about whether it will work or not.

Only thing I ever sold on eBay was older phones I had. Do you have any videos on how to begin? For example would I go to a store and buy items on sale then flip them on eBay?

I got my first sale about a week ago and I got my first payout. I’m taking a chunk of my next paycheck and going all in. The idea of making 10k a month doesn’t seem so out of reach anymore.

I find the worst thing about eBay is definitely Australia Post.
@MichaelGates-uw8wm5 ай бұрын
The cost seem to be continually going up, yet the service doesn’t increase. I remember as a kid, the postie would come twice a day. Morning and afternoon. It often feels like I can order something from overseas quicker than it takes something to ship to Western Australia.

I was 2 months Into My ebay Journey it looked so Promising then my account was Permanently Suspended and all funds frozen. No explanation. I just started making enough money to be my main source of income. This is beyond Depressing. Back into the Matrix I go. Looking for a 9-5 again. It can happen just like that so SELLERS beware.

Great video mate! would you recommend choosing a particular niche to focus on for an ebay store? or just overall look for anything to turn into profit?

It’d depend on how far into the journey you are. I think inching down has its place once you’ve been at it for a while and trialled a few categories

Hi Matt, great video. Watching your channel gave me, like many others the nudge we needed to get into selling. I’m just wondering how you deal with negative or neutral feedback, which at times feels unjustified? How do you feel about the removal of being able to leave buyers neutral or negative feedback? Great score in the friends Lego set. I potentially would have tried to build it and then lost any pieces that were missing. As there doesn’t seem to be many missing and could have increased its value. Keep up the good work.

I did ebay for the first time in 1999 selling bootleg LIVE concert recordings, so yes it was a viable business 25 years ago. We had digital camera's then too, and scanners to digitlize photos.

For me I have to have a dynamic promotion in order to have any sales. I tried turning it off but when it’s off - I have zero sales. So I suggest not turning it on ever and maybe just promote at 2% which is the minimum but dynamic is horrible - eBay gets all my money hahaha

Great you mentioned a morning run for keeping fit. How fast is your 5km? (here in the UK we do Park Run events for 100-200 folk to jog/run 2-3 laps around a local park on Saturday mornings in about 30 minutes). Cheers.

I started reselling on ebay after watching your videos and do keep track of my money but one thing I am stuck on whats best to do for tax time. I write everything down on paper at the minute but tax agents have said they prefer it all done online which I have no clue how to do it. Would you recommend xero or just a standard spreadsheet?

On the downside, appearing on Breakfast TV has contributed to price rises in thrift stores and lack of quality items to buy due to increased foot traffic in thrift stores. You have ultimately killed off your own source. 🤔🤷🏽 Your hourly pay rate would be extremely low.

I'm here to market what I do. Exposure brings me opportunities outside of thrift stores. Plenty of other places to find stock than relying on penny pinching thrift stores. If you look at the big picture of business.. you'd be mad not to put yourself on National TV. Appreciate your thoughts and thanks for watching.
