As a Thunder fan I don’t feel comfortable claiming that Title. Part of the deal from the sale of the SuperSonics was that if/when Seattle gets a team back those banners and trophy’s belong to them. Thunder don’t display anything Sonics and in my Mind they have not won a championship yet
@Vyuel9 ай бұрын
agreed, although the history of oklahoma city is amazing, i believe we had one of if not the highest winrates throughout the 2010s, and now have the most lottery capital in league history, with a young team that is top 6 in the league, thats everything u could ask for besides winning a ring, which seems a tall standard for a team that has only existed for 15 years
@jacksonconley51179 ай бұрын
I agree. I feel uncomfortable claiming the Thunder went to the finals four times. Their appearance in 2012 certainly belongs to them since they were in Oklahoma City at that point, but their appearances in 1978, 1979, and 1996 belong to the city of Seattle. I hope Seattle gets the Sonics back and all their history prior to 2008 and hopefully the Thunder gets its first real title as the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Grizzlies this low is crazy. Ja is their superstar is obviously tough, but that off the court stuff should die down and he can still very easily improve to a clear Top 10 player. Plus, this off year has let them rebuild and develop more young guys like Vince and GG, while also getting a top 10 pick in the draft. If they just get a big guy center in the building to help JJJ actually get rebounds, a lineup of Ja, Bane, A Young Wing, JJJ, and Big Center would go kinda crazy, and if someone makes a leap they have a solid shot at the finals

The wolves are world beaters rn, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is their year, and putting the clippers above them is ludicrous, seeing that the reason you did this was gobert's age, when the clips are old as frick, and this year the wolves have dominated the clips time and time again.

Every Team that Never Won a Championship: Suns: Went there in 1976, 1993, and 2021 but all of them resulted in losses to the Celtics, Bulls, and Bucks. Clippers: Never went to the NBA Finals. The closest they came was in 2021 when they went to the WCF for the first time in franchise history but lost to the Suns. Jazz: Went to the NBA Finals back to back years in 1997 and 1998 under the leadership of Karl Malone but lost both times to Michael Jordan and the Bulls. The closest they came was in 1998 when they were looking to force game 7 at home. They had a 2 point lead with 10 seconds left only for Michael Jordan to hit a three pointer with 5 seconds left giving the Bulls the lead and sending the crowd in Salt Lake City into utter silence. Pacers: Went all the way to the Finals in 2000, but lost in six games to the Lakers. Nets: They went to back to back Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003 back when they were still in New Jersey. Unfortunately they lost back to back years to the Lakers and the Spurs. Hornets: One of the worst sports franchises in North America and have never been to the NBA Finals ever. You gotta wonder what would have happened if they draft Kobe Bryant. Magic: Went on a surprise run to the NBA Finals in 2009 with Dwight Howard under center, but lost in five to the Lakers. Timberwolves: Never been to the NBA Finals ever, but their best chance was when they had Kevin Garnett. Pelicans: Never been to the NBA Finals and Super Bowl XLIV remains the only championship appearance for the city of New Orleans as of 2024. Grizzlies: Never been to the NBA Finals and a Tennessee based team still has yet to win a championship as of 2024. Their football team, the Titans, lost the Super Bowl in 1999 and their Hockey team, the Predators, lost the Stanley Cup in 2017. Thunder: While the franchise technically won it all in 1979, but it while they were still the Seattle SuperSonics. The only time they went to the NBA Finals as the Oklahoma City Thunder was back in 2012 where they lost to the Miami Heat. In the event if the Seattle SuperSonics return, they would get all their history prior to 2008 back meaning that the Thunder would lose the 1979 title from their history and would be deemed a 2008 expansion team.

The Denver Nuggets broke through in 2023 after them being in the NBA for 47 years (started off at the ABA in 1970 before the merger) so anything is always possible. I wouldn’t put the Memphis Grizzlies under the zero chance tier, that’s going way too early to put them in that category. I wouldn’t write them off just for one bad season and Ja Morant was improving before he got injured so I think there’s a decent chance. I think the Minnesota Timberwolves have a better future than the Phoenix Suns which I don’t think they should be in the small chance tier like the Suns and Pelicans so Minnesota should be on high chance. I think the Pacers should be in small chance tier and while there’s no mid-tier you have I would say the Clippers are at a decent chance like the Grizzlies. Overall you had a solid list, but there were a few tweaks I personally would’ve made.
