Great explanation Patrick! Loved how you simplified the topic.

You must be excited to get the bike, I sure was! Thanks for the compliments on the video - especially your being a professional. I was in the business of presenting ideas but not in the photography or video business but I find it fascinating and rewarding, and want to make sure what I put out there is quality that I can be proud of. Your compliments help make it worthwhile for me - thank you. PS: I should have the next video out within a week.

Another great vid Patrick and perfect timing with the subject for me. My Decoy arrives tomorrow and first thing I have to do is send the coil shock off for tuning and get the correct spring rate for my weight. Trouble is my tuning specialist needs a month to book it in. So I'm going to be fitting the Ohlins Air shock to mine in the meantime, expensive but yolo! At least I can get a good feel for both types and more importantly get out while we still have a summer for a few more weeks. As for your vid - the production again is impressively done, I suspect you have years of photography under your belt (used to do it professionally myself) and it's paying off in these vids with your lighting and composition. Also your outro music really suits the subject too. Can't wait for the next.

I thought I’d responded to this but it appears I didn’t go through. In any case thanks so much for the compliment and I hope you are enjoying the Decoy!

Amazing video! Gave me exactly the info I needed & reason to hold onto my spectral with the air shock

@@roadlesstraveledtruckee I’m getting the core 3. You also sold me on the silver pedals lol. Thanks!

@@neildsouza6101awesome! Yes, I call them my “pre scratched” pedals since all my other pedals are turning that color from rock hits anyway.

SUBBED! Highlighting design intention with the type of shock is an often ignored point. I like coil springs being in northern Alberta Canada, where temperatures change 30 degrees Celsius in the course of a day. It’s habitually below zero already. Ride on! 👊🏾🧔🏾♂️

Welcome aboard and thanks for making that point. Keep the insight coming!

A couple other advantages of coil vs air spring: less maintenance (no spring seals to change on coil), less variability with temperature (air springs will heat up with weather and longer decents increasing the effective spring rate), and less heat transfer to the damping fluid making the damper perform more consistently.
