Which Should We Teach First? Counting or Subitising?

'Subitising' may be a new or less familiar term to us but 'counting' certainly isn't. Now 'Subitising' is part of the Early Learning Goals and is cropping up in Maths schemes and videos, it can get a bit confusing as to how they differ and how best to teach them.
