Okay, I wanna hear your thoughts on this video and these two cameras! Towards the end of the video, I explain how I decide which camera to reach for👍
@MotoFamMayhem2 жыл бұрын
I've been a GoPro user since 09 or earlier. The 360 cams, when punched in at 1080p remind me of the quality of the hero 2 or 3... Also, it appears that the 360 cam would need to be much closer to the subject to get the same shot, and I already find that somewhat of a challenge with the modern GoPro. With that being said, I'm not interested in 360 camera tech until they achieve 8k or higher, I'd like to see the punched in image be 2.7k at least. That's my thoughts on the 2 cameras, I do not yet have a hero 11 but I've got two 8's a 9 and a 10 not to mention all the older gopros I still have that are obsolete. Thank you David for all the work you do!!! 🤟😎

Really great video as always! Personally, I lean more towards the GoPro right now. The 360 footage looks really cool, but I just don't like that the resolution of the end product is so low. The thing I find very interesting about the current Black Friday deals over at GoPro though, is that they've increased the prise of the Hero 11 this week, so 15% off isn't a big sale compared to the price last week (at least here in Sweden, 15% off is just making a few dollars difference (converted from SEK). I don't know how it is in the other countries, but at least the Swedish GoPro site isn't running a very good deal). I was very disappointed seeing that, because the sale was much better during the Halloween deals, which I find a bit strange because I thought Black Friday usually offers better deals than Halloween. Hopefully they'll have better prices on Friday, but I'm not sure since they're already offering a pretty good price with the subscription.
@jadenzeilinger82442 жыл бұрын
I am leaning toward the GoPro as of right now. I have a hero 4 and (just like all the other comments say) the quality of the 360 cams aren’t good enough. I also NEED the Insta360 to be more durable to scratches. I do mountain biking and snowboarding, so if I fall the camera could be heavily damaged or even broken. I’d love to try a 360 camera nonetheless

For filming activities with your kids it seems to me the X3 will be much easier to work with. And resolution vs actually usable footage is something a lot of people don’t get until they have gone through a few cameras. A shot where dad doesn’t have to make everyone wait for the camera setup is a lot easier on everybody and results in better footage IMO.
@S.Dalino2 жыл бұрын
I am sold on the X3. With the 360 footage I don't need to worry where I mount the camera or where I am pointing at, I can decide the angle in post which is my favourite feature. Also the invisible stick effect is insane, never get tired of it lol. My uncle just bought the gopro 11 a couple of weeks ago and he sent it back, it was freezing every now and then

I have Insta360 x3 and GoPro 10 and my opinion is: Having both cameras is a game changer. They complement each other pretty well with the video/photo quality of GoPro and the versatility of X3. But, if you have none of these, the first one I recommend is the GoPro. Even that you have a lot of freedom with the X3, the GoPro has a greater quality of video, so it’s the best camera for most of situations. The X3 you will use in specific situations that the GoPro isn’t so versatile, most of “selfies” shots the X3 is easier to use and will deliver a stunning angle of the shot, but the opaque and low resolution will keep you doing just some short clips as B-rolls.

Can you edit the film from Gopro and Insta360 in the same software? So you can use scenes from both cameras in the same film? What software to use then?
@AstronautaTupi Жыл бұрын
@@theofficecyclist tried to import the GoPro files into the Insta360 app and is not possible. The software for the 360 is mainly to reframe your shots and adjust the field of view. Later, you need to process in a video editor normally (sony vegas, after effects, filmora… the one that you prefer).

1920 x 1080 is the default export settings. In the Video Export Settings box you can change this to 3840 x 2160 (4K). Also you can increase the bitrate and use ProRes 422 encoding format for increased video quality. You can then save this as the default.

@@retroonhisbikes They would have to reduce the sensor back down to 12mp to do that. I can record all day long on the Hero 8 because it has a 12mp sensor. Same with the DJI Action 3. I'm a solo traveler who shoots for my personal social media. The 360 makes more sense for my use like you said. I don't need the super high quality that the GoPro has, and having the invisible selfie stick with multiple angles make it seem like I have a camera crew and a drone when I'm shooting by myself. Great review!

I've had the GOPRO hero 9 for a couple of years and love it. I use it mostly for overlanding video and the stabilization is great. Just picked up the Insta 360 X3 and it does amazing stuff also. But you're right, they are two very different cameras with different usages. Just driving down dirt roads I think the Gopro is a clear winner because I set the lens to linear and get rid of a lot of dashboard from my truck. The 360 X3 shows a lot of dashboard that gets boring after a few seconds. But having the ability to video 360 degrees and editing it later means I won't miss thing as much, if at all. Both will be used with all my travels and KZbin videos and really looking forward to Maui this spring and snorkeling with the Insta 360 X3, I think it will be awesome in that environment.

I’ve got to go with the 360, since you can sometimes only have a one-shot to capture whatever you’re doing. A studio selfie setup would be a different story, where maybe a GoPro would be better. But life experiences, not knowing what’s going to happen wherever you are, and if something is happening out of frame etc, it’s best to just capture EVERYTHING, and figure out what works best in your post. Yes you have the inconvenience of having to post-process. But most people already do that before uploading to their social media of choice. And with the bugs from GoPro with freezing and overheating and lack of firmware updates etc, I think DJI or Insta360 are better choices.

I need to shoot myself during vlog and video regarding daily life which does not require 360 all the time.

Hey David, this is off topic, but I'd like to put this under your latest video for a better reply chance. So I got myself a GoPro Hero 8 over a year ago. Now I'm getting myself into these ND filters which I need for low shutter speeds. I just wachted your video about these ND filters for the Hero 8, but the issue I'm having now is that these ND filter for the Hero 8 aren't available anymore. Seems like the Hero 8 is flawed because you can't swap the lens out. I've been looking all over the internet to try to get my hands on these ND filters for the Hero 8. The only option I've found meant I'd to pay over 100 dollars and I'm not willing to invest this huge amount of money for some filters. My question is: Do you have any idea/option how to get my hands on these filters for the GoPro Hero 8? Would love to hear your reaction. Have a nice day!

The Insta360 X3 has lens protectors available, so the durability issue is a moot point.

don't be silly. I'm shopping for a camera and seriously considering the X3, but calling durability a "moot point" is just silly

I just bought the insta360 X3 & WOW, what a cool piece of tech!!! 💯👍 Even a novice like me can look like a real videographer, because no matter what way you face the camera you can edit it & guys the perspective in the app. Yeah, you're not lying, the Ulanxi PT-20 was hard to find, I ordered the wrong 1 off insta360, so had to get the right 1 from B&H Photo, because they had free shipping, unlike insta360. I bought the sticky lens as well, but questionable about using them, how are they still holding up, any issues visible? Didn't look too bad in your video, but could see glares & the dreaded red dot

My Lord, I know nothing about F stops, ISO's, or FPM, but I sure enjoy your videos. My question is how do I learn about cameras and settings. For now I will stick to my digital Nikon D80 that I inherited with out a manual but several lenses. Once I learn how to use that camera, then maybe I will venture into an action camera. Until then thanks for your recommendations and I will continure to follow your vlogs. Thanks

Very good video, I finally got which one is the downside of the Insta, the 1080 resolution if you don't want the 360 view....

Technically it’s 1080 in every direction. So it doesn’t look great no matter wichi way you zoom :) but when it you in the shot 6 feet away you won’t really notice. Only distant things are clearly blurred.
