Just I can say every community has their own eating habits/style from their forefathers so for me both sides of the banana leaves is adjustable for uses, in the case of your husband yes, I agree the rasam will run away because one side is smooth/slippery while other side is more flat and stable 😁

Birds don't poop on the inner side .That's a match winning statement. Besides leaves that are collected from the jungles or from dusty roads sides are always dirty n have specks n spots of dirt n like you mentioned the inner side is whole lot cleaner n one can use it for eating 😅just by wiping it with paper or cloth napkin or tissue paper etc.n without washing it or cleaning it with soap or water.😊
