great video, i sa the 23 zero and wanted a sleeping bag for all seasons. i went the oztent rivergum xl. it is rated to -10 and you can unzip a flonalette layer to have just one to make it a all purpose sleeping bag. me and the mrs went in a 23 zero and found it too narrow. two off the 100cm wide one was a winner.

Best sleeping bag Coleman Big Game C-6 comes with flannel pillow so warm and comfy plus I’m 193cm and still have plenty of room both ways. No matter the temperature always slept in jocks only and keeps me warm. Had the bag for 5 years no drama. Even the zip never gets caught on the bag when zipping or unzipping it.

Another great video mate. I think it depends in how much you have to spend. The 23 zero is the higher quality and higher cost option. I'd go with the cheapest option from Big W to start off with and if the amount of time camping justified the extra cost go buy the 23 zero as the longer term option

That sounds about right mate 👍 no point in someone that only camps a few times a year starting out with a $260 sleeping bag when they already have so much more to buy 👍 but when you are ready to get serious about camping it's definitely worth the investment

I purchased the kings sleeping bag it is great and good value for money & the zips are not a problem I think your just getting a bit picky, if you have a good water proof tent, swag or camper why are you worried about water ingress and who sleeps out in the rain. The Kings products are not the best quality but for the price they got a lot of people into camping who would never have otherwise done so and because of Kings the other brands are starting to match prices so that's good for the consumer, I would really like to see more of these items made here in Australia.

With 2 sleeping bags joined together the zips come undone every night. Might be different if you are sleeping in it alone. We camp all year round no matter the weather. We don't let a bit of rain stop us lol. But the water test wasn't for rain. If you've camped often you would know condensation can build up during the night as you sleep. It's not about water coming through your swag or what ever you are using. It builds up on the inside of the roof & drips on you. Every swag & rooftop tent has this issue and there is no way to stop it besides good ventilation. They are still great sleeping bags and we used them for over 2 years every weekend & they are still going 👍

Great video.. I had the kings myself and I'll admit it's very warm and I had -3 weather at lake Bonney using it in my swag.as you said my down fall was the zip would slide down through the night.also the inner part that can be taken out for summer use was annoying too as it moved down at night. I have the 23 zero Dakota 1400. Is the 23 zero bag a perfect fit for width? (I know you said it’s a bit narrow) Also does it fold up in the rtt? (I know you have the same tent)
@Campingdownunder
@Campingdownunder 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a perfect fit. But what you have to take into account when you & your partner hop in the sleeping bag it raises with you in it which pulls in the sides making it slightly smaller. Our old adventure kings sleeping bags were a little wider giving us more room once we were in the sleeping bag. Yes it folds up in the rooftop tent. We just fold it in half first so it doesn't bunch up while folding the rooftop tent in half

@@Campingdownunder thanks for the prompt reply. Followed! I have 2 single wanderer sleeping bags. Tried packing up the rtt tent with these folded in half prior and there was no way it was fitting. Is it a struggle to get the 23 zero one in? I’ll buy it if it’s a good fit in the tent

The adventure kings sleeping bag Re the zip sleeping bags only have one zip your using the only zip to join two sleeping bags together? So how do you go about not having a zip in the middle? Your best to just buy a double sleeping bag or if you roll the two singles over then both zippers are on the outside the same as you set it up the same as the Coleman ( first one in the video) the hood then will be the same as the Coleman but maybe you could trying setting it up the same just use pillows. I have 2 different Oztrail sleeping bags they are the best sleeping bags I’ve ever owned I’m 6 foot 6 inches they are flannelette and 235 mm long . Both ex therm rated The Nullarbor is comfort -5 and extreme - 10 it’s instantly warm when you get in and the other oztrail one is the mega cotton canvas comfort rating- minus 7 and extreme rating- minus 12 I have used that one in + 5 degrees Celsius and was boiling in it. If you’re looking for length and warmth definitely try out the Oz trail mega cotton canvas I’m going to take my to the snow and test it outside I’m pretty confident it will still be warm outside on a mattress in the elements I haven’t tested it’s waterproof capabilities but it’s supposed to be pretty good in rain all night. Nice video thanks for sharing 😊

Buy cheap, buy twice - so if I were to buy one, it’ll be the 23zero for sure.
@Campingdownunder
@Campingdownunder Жыл бұрын
Wrong! I can't stand people saying buy cheap buy twice. Fair enough if you have the budget to blow on what ever you want. But the average person can't afford to buy the best of everything. Sometimes they have to make sacrifices and buy a cheaper brand. I run the best of everything now but I started out with everything from 4wdsupacentre and to this day don't bag anyone out for starting out with budget gear. No point spending years stuck at home saving for the best of everything because that's what you've been told you must do. Instead buy what you can afford so you can at least still afford to get out there. Overtime once you work out if camping is your thing & what setup works best for you then invest in better gear. No point blowing huge $ & not being happy with it. Everyone has different budgets and shouldn't be told what they must have
@stevej.6674
@stevej.6674 Жыл бұрын
@@Campingdownunder Firstly, calm ya farm. Secondly, i’m not telling anyone what to do. I’m just stating that one is more likely to buy twice if they start cheap. Whatever the budget, whatever the choice is completely up to that person. However, a $2 piece of junk gives absolute ZERO f’cks about your budget or your situation. It’s most likely NOT going last as well as a better made, more expensive item no matter how much you want it to. If a cheap item did stand the rest of time, it’s the exception- not the rule! I’ve lost count of how many things I’ve had to buy again because the first cheapie shat itself. That said, sometimes a cheapie is all it takes & there’s no point paying the big dollars. Horses for courses. But in the case of camping equipment for example, higher quality items could last you a lifetime & then pass it down to your kids. Over time, it works out to be cheaper than the cheapie! In any case, so how about if I said, “buy the best you can afford”. Would that make you feel better sweet cheeks?
@Campingdownunder
@Campingdownunder Жыл бұрын
@stevej.6674 I agree the 23zero is the best quality sleeping bag. I live out of my 4wd full-time and still use the 23zero sleeping bag every night. But for the price the cheaper 4wdsupacentre sleeping bag lasted us years with no issues. Some of their gear isn't the best but at least you know you have a warranty if anything happens. At 4wd shows people ask about my rooftop tent and awning. But I advise them unless they go camping quite regularly it's not worth investing $13k in a rooftop tent & awning when other cheaper brands will do them just fine. Wasn't trying to have a go at you mate. It just grinds my gears when other youtubers tell everyone they need the best of everything just because they are trying to keep their sponsors happy. My camping gear is 90% sponsored also but I tell people same as you said at the end of your comment "buy the best you can afford" 👍

All those bags are garbage , there are much better , more affordable bags on the market . $50 Big W bag - you get what you pay for and $50 doesn’t buy much. Kings bag - Cheap crap , in this case overpriced cheap crap. 23Zero bag - Way overpriced , ordinary performance. Spend a little time and research what your needs are , there are some great value , solid bags available locally.
