Can I leave a suggestion... Could you for your next video include screen recording of you working in prusa and cura slicer to help us see what you are seeing... KZbin is all about visual learning, so having you speaking about number and settings without the visuals makes it hard to keep up.... But loving the information! And you've got a new sub :)

My printer is coming in 2 days, just about everything else is here now so I'm getting everything ready. This was a great breakdown of both slicers and really helped me know what to look for and gave a good base to start from on the temps. Thanks!

Not a good comparison............ When you're trying to compare 2 slicers quality: 1 - Use always the same printer to run the tests!!! Different machines, have sometimes different configurations, mechanics, etc... speeds and accelerations have a big role in overal print time; 2 - Even though you are running default settings, you should always edit your profiles on both slicers with the same values, so they can perform as even as possible to each other when printing; 3 - Always use the same model for comparisons like this.... going from a benchy to a gear wheel does not prove anything! 4 - Master both slicers, then you can tell what is different and what is not......

Yes, I never use default profiles, it seems meaningless to compare them, I was looking for a comparison in features

Hi Ricardo, I did this test based off of someone who is just getting into 3D printing. What slicer has the best default settings. Also, both printers were brand new at the time of filming (although I understand that criticism). Also, I printed a benchy and a gear on both printers. Like I said, I have used both slicers for a lot of different jobs. I have 12 machines and have printed thousands of hours using both slicers.

@@Mwillett Well, then i gotta tell you that this is not a good example for begginers... When someone is getting into 3D printing, you'll have to assume they only have 1 printer! And if they wanna know what is the best slicer, then first you'll have to make what i've mentioned in my comment. Even if those begginers have 2 or more machines! Mastering the slicer and knowing the machines you're working with, is more than half way for good prints! I don't have any doubts that you know how to 3D print and how experienced you are.... i might not be a youtuber, but i'm in the same industry as you and probably with as much experience as you

Hey thanks for the great unbiased review. I’ve been using both and I have to agree with you. Cura out of the box is for people just getting into 3D printing and hobbyist who kinda don’t want to fine tune everything and let things run on autopilot. Prusaslicer I feel has so many different options and is easy to get confused especially with their terminology.

I find Cura's starting "edge wipe" with the little corner blob it does makes a huge difference for the start of the first layer. Combined with the default 3 row skirt around the print, gets the nozzle going with a better flow from the nozzle when the actual print starts. PrusaSlicer often gets a blob stuck on the nozzle - somewhat fixable by adding a 3 lap skirt around the print, but not always.

I think it all comes down to preference and what you start with. I am just more comfortable with Cura.

Prusa is far better with seam placement and detail then Cura.

Im about a month into printing. I have both slicers and i do not like cura at all. Prusa is whats up for me

I kinda lost a little faith on your first point raised. I don't profess to know heaps, but I do know that Cura can randomize the Z seam, you seemed to know this in the part when you emphasized that Prusa did this in its 'Default' setting but failed to mention that Cura 'can' do this as well.

Interesting information. Thank you. One thing, I know this is 7 months old but your audio needs to repaired because it changes when you change positions ( maybe you fixed it already).

Hey, great explanation of the differences. Thanks for putting your time into this. A little feedback, I noticed your voice was only coming through one speaker for most of the video, irritating for headphone users, otherwise, great work!

I was hoping for a comparison for the actual features between cura and prusa. As I understand it prusa options are more streamlined and get you a good functional print. Cura had more fine tuning options that were critical for minature printing. I'm here because I'm starting to hit a wall with prusa slicer with bridging petg. Then I found out cura had more fine tuning bridging settings. I'll be frank, this video wasn't useful. Who exactly cares about default settings?

I want to use this slicer but it won't "see" the files I want to print. When I open a new project it can't "see" the Cura marked files. Even G-code files won't appear.🥵

prusa i get a better print overall but top and bottom layer quality cura is better on my e3v2

Man I hate how prusa tends to drag the nozzle when moving from one edge to the other leaving that nasty marks on top of whatever is crossing over (being fill or the very top of the print). I am using Prusa exclusively but I mostly for the supports and the cut tool. And I also prefer the Prusa tabs for printing, printer and filament. But I think I will give Cura another chance, or as you do, using it one slicer or the other depending on the task.

That has more to do with settings than slicer. I've had that happen in cura as well

It looks like you're using two different printers. Would that not also be a factor?
