Does this mean that I need music tabs specifically written for low G ukes? I have been learning through Bernadette Teaches Music using my low G concert. Maybe the sound is all off because of the low G tuning...

Low G sounds a lot different than regular GCEA. It's almost a guitar sound. Best suited for people with lower voices, I think. You play the same tabs and music as regular GCEA. I sing GCEA with higher voice than low G, and I sing low GCEA higher than I do baritone DGBE. This just seems to occur naturally.

Hi sir this was really helpful. Can u help me to understand is it completely fine if we tune tenor ukulele as same as soprano ukulele tunning? Does it harm tenor ukulele by any chance.?

Most people in the US tune tenor ukulele GCEA, which is the way they also tune soprano. So it won't hurt to tune your tenor ukulele that way. Thanks for your question. Rich

Is there any reason the low G uses such a thin gauge string? I would imagine it being thicker than middle C.

Low G tuning will make more sense for a ukulele newbie coming from a guitar playing background.

Yes, I'm sure. If they wanted a super sweet transition, they could also tune DGBE and have guitar sound and chords. Thanks. Rich

@@richdavis4007 that is the same relationship of the strings, just a lot lower pitch, which would need heavier guage strings.

People don't have to say oook, of course. Since I'm from the southern USA and not pacific USA, oook sounds a little strange to me! When I travel to California or Hawaii, I'll pronounce the word differently.😊😊
