I think it’s pretty blatant (especially for EDM) that the sound test demonstrates much more clarity on the HS7. The Adam sounds muffled and choked. Even for application beyond mastering the Adam misses a sharpness that even my sensitive ears need to believe something isn’t a lo-fi mix or just bad master. Personally that first, rock-esque example is a terrible sound overall, and the HS7 is showing you that. That’s the point. I have a home stereo for pleasure, colouring/taming sound can be done there.

It's crazy to me that even with the Adams U-ART tweeter the HS7's still have 5KHZ more frequency range 👀 I've been going back and forth trying to decide what monitors to get to for my home studio and obviously the more frequency range you get the more sound range and octave scaling you'll be able to perceive and from the looks of it the HS7's are the king of having neutral sound and a large frequency range in their price. Also considering pairing Adam A4V's with a sub but that's like 50% more expensive than HS7's and a sub

@@callmevil So that’s why he didn’t pick one. Makes his channel less reliable for newbies. I took an extra day or so and did my research. I went with Adam T7V for a better deal, and not necessarily because I think they sound better. Yamaha would have been my first choice, but since I’m not doing any mixing , I think Adam speakers are a better buy. More pleasant sound for long listening sessions and they don’t require a sub. With Yamaha, I feel like some genera’s would sound better if you had a sub with them. On a one on one comparison between these two, I would pick Yamaha , because I love that detail on EDM and classical music.

I had both...and you may want both, but I chose the Adam T7Vs for several reasons....please read as this may help you. The Yamaha HS7s, in a very near-field setup like mine, were a bit too bright. I have a medium to large size room, and even with all the space around the monitors, I didn't get the sound I was expecting. The resolution was amazing, but a bit harsh straight out of the box, at least for my ears. I decided to give them a whole month of break-in, moved my entire desk around multiple times, as well as the monitors, added books and other objects into the room to control the high-frequency sound waves and found them to be too bright for my taste. I couldn't get them to have that "full" sound. I think it was my room acoustics because the HS7s are recommended by a lot of folks, not for how fun or good they sound, but more for their honest representation of sound, but again...that was not the case for me. Maybe I needed more time with the Yamahas...or a different room. The T7Vs immediately shocked me when I played some hi-res tunes through them. They're also gorgeous monitors to look at. I'm one of those odd-balls that actually likes good-looking equipment in my room and the Adams' darker, minimal look suited my studio and personality. The surprising thing was that no matter where I placed the T7Vs, they sounded warm. T7Vs definitely have that full-range sound, and when I say full, I mean full-full. You might, and say this with caution, but you just might not need to purchase a dedicated sub. The T7Vs hit unbelievably hard when they need to without overpowering the rest of the freq range. I am honestly shocked as to how deep the Adams can dig in the lower frequencies and still manage to keep such a tight sound signature. I heard no cabinet resonance, even at some pretty high volumes. I mean honestly, mind blowing sound. At one point I found myself laughing hysterically because of how great they sounded. Genres: Ambient Space Music, Progressive Breakbeat, Deep House, Ambient Techno Also, please, please, please, get some decent cables. The Adams are nearly dead-silent and have almost no noise-floor when they're on and no audio is being played through them. However, I noticed a difference when I went to Mohami's TRS to XLR. They sounded slightly louder after the switch. You definitely gain more db using TRS to XLR than if you were to use TRS to TRS. World's Best Cables website....thank me later. Also, keep your cables as short as possible, unless you need some slack for the future. The RCA connections should be your last resort on the Adams, but the fact that the T7Vs offer unbalanced RCA is great for people who own DACs that have RCA outputs....and even with RCA connections, get some decent cables.

Yeah for me the yams sound more detailed but the adams sound more comfortable on my ears. Just wondering if the adams might be a more snug choice for long producing sessions in logic, I spend less time on the mixing generally, just getting the levels right.

Hey Edward, I'm looking for someone who understands acoustics to ask for information so I can clear up a doubt. I bought new hs7 speakers, I hear a rattling coming from the back of the speakers when playing the low frequencies and in particular the Subs, I wanted to understand if this is normal or if the speaker has problems . The room is treated well acoustically, and I hear the rattling is inside the speaker so if there should be a problem I think it is from the speaker itself. Thanks in advance🙌🏻
@EdwardSmithMusic
@EdwardSmithMusic 3 ай бұрын
Hi. You could have heavy vibrations when low end is being played through studio monitors, but in the case of Yamaha HS7's, they should be very solid. If you feel there is some sort of rattling going on that seems off, I would go with your gut feeling that something is loose within the monitors themselves.

I went for the T5v’s per Z reviews…. I made the mistake in the past with going with the m3-8’s from M-Audio for near field and you end up needing a large amount of space to position them correctly…. The smaller Adams will be perfect for placement options in small desktop use… Now just shopping for a decent Sub for $300-$500 that will pair nicely
