Tip to make your EK sound about as good as it will get before it starts sounding like a sack . Replace the muffler with a resonator (LEAVE THE REST OF THE EXHUAST SYSTEM ALONE). I know a guy who did this to his civic and it actually sounds pretty cool and sometimes backfires.

He managed to make a V6 sound like a straight piped civic😂. Rule of thumb is. You can make ANY motor sound good. Some are blessed with being able to inherently sound good because of the type of motor. Aka turbo 4cyl, In-line 6, V8, some V6s, hell even some inline 5 or 3 cyl engines sound great. But what matters is HOW you do the exhaust. Most NA 4 cyl should just stick with a axle back or cat back to reduce rasp and top end buzzing. But you start chopping the exhaust up and it becomes real bad real fast. I’m not a fan of straight piping anything. I prefer tone over decibels any day of the week I feel like most car enthusiasts will agree too

My last vehicle was a Mitsubishi Mighty Max. It had a lovely straight pipe, and didn't seem that loud,... Until I had to get on the highway. Whenever I would arrive at a destination, I needed about 5 minutes until the ringing would stop in my ears. I bought an E30 with some kind of Frankenmonster combination of SuperSprint headers and what looks like a Dodge 3500 truck 5" pipe going into an aftermarket muffler of Eldritch horror. This bowel obstruction is so mangled I genuinely can't tell if the Cat is still there. Somehow the some of that signature BMW wet/metallic/rasp remains in the exhaust note. There's also a hint of V-Tail Bonanza, but I'll live. It'll cost about as much as I paid for the car to get a decent CARB compliant block-to-bumper replacement. I tell myself it's worth the trouble to keep the car. I'm probably lying to myself.

I was a cool guy today, a 350Z with a fart can was trying to make fast car noises in a tunnel so I got into boost, let the blow off valve do its thing, and then did a flat foot shift with my Cobb turbo back exhaust on my 02 WRX wagon. Sounds like a monster in the tunnel. It's not the fastest car in the world but it has a very deep exhaust note and it's making about 280 AWHP.

A Vibrant Performance resonator and some high quality exhaust tips would do wonders for your car though. I would say opt for stainless steel, they don’t rust and the quality of the metal negates the “tinny” sound you normally get from aluminum piping

Is amazing how much people think the V6 muscle cars sound bad. If you modify the exhaust of the 4.0 liter V6 Mustangs from 2005-09 era and modify to sound like a good v6 sound it actually sounds beautiful and almost GTRish at the top end due to the large size of the motor. It really is all about not modifying V6 cars to sound like V8 cars. But one of the best sounding cars on earth was an inline 6 Jaguar E Type so idk how people hate these motors so much lol.

My BRZ had an MBRP exhaust with a catalytic converter delete, and I'd be generous to say that it's exhaust sound sucked. Every time I cold started it sounded like it was suffering in the bathroom after eating 5 crunchwrap supremes at a taco bell it was heinous. I'm so glad I reverted it back to stock, it may still sound bad but it's not fucking annoying and loud
