Great video! Wish I’d watched it sooner. Would have saved me hours of reading through many, many posts on the Tennis Warehouse forums! Especially liked learning about the Babolat RPM soft. I’ve been using Head Velocity MLT but have been wanting to try a poly. Looks like a good way to enter the new world of polys!

i totally agree with the shaped poly for mains and smooth round for crosses. i also lubricate the strings with silicon spray before stringing the racket. much better relation between strings for the snap back factor. i personally use Pro Kennex Hexa mains and Pro Kennex Poly XT crosses. very durable as well and i hit rather hard. i'm above average in power in my strokes but for comfort and joint preservation, i went hybrid just to have a lil extra oompf in power from the racket and also a softer feel. i was using Tour bite soft mains with Head Sonic pro crosses before and it was good too. so similar that i barely had to adjust to Pro Kennex combo. later combo is just a bit cheaper where i live so, i take advantage of it. Pro Kennex is very reputable brand too. i like to play light 103 head size rackets at 285g (Babolat Evo drive Tour) so by nature, it gives me a bit more power than a 100 or 98 head size at the same weight. 1.30 gauge at 23/22kg tension or 48/50 pounds.

Good explanation! I would add that the recommended tension on the frame is meant for synthetic gut strings only. Another point might be to remember to do not keep a polyester string too long and not till breakage. Polyester loses tension and elasticity quickly since fitted; no elasticity means no vibration damping at all. No more than 20 play hours or 3 months is a general limit.

@antonioragosta5727
@antonioragosta5727 Жыл бұрын
@Sam there is no a simple answer. It depends on racquet, string, and game. I normally look at the string tension range, available from tennis string database, and make a couple of tests. The accuracy of the stringing machine and stringer technique also play a big role in what for example, 23kg mean.

A good multifilament that I have used a lot is Gamma ocho XP. It is shaped and does not fray like many do. I have used it in the mains with a soft co poly - Kirshbaum evolution in the crosses. Good long lasting set up.

Good info. Definitely gonna try that Babolat RPM Soft ! What I'm missing is which string (type) works best in what racquet (type)? E.g. let's say Hyper-G works well in a 98 or 100 sq in 16x19 racquet, but would it play and feel equally well in an 18x20 racquet, like a Head Speed Pro (100 sq in 18x20) or a Prince Phantom 93P 18x20 ?

What polys do you recommend that have a low launch angle but have exceptional spin and control along with power. My current racquet setup is EZONE 100 2022 strung with Hyper G 19 Gauge at 53 pounds. After watching video I was considering doing a poly hybrid setup, However I don't know where to start.

Tecnifibre triax is a good option or X-one biphase from them too. There is also Head Velocity, Babolat xcel in the full muti departments. If you're after spin and control try lynx touch in the mains with a multi cross!

Do you have your favorites for poly cross strings with gut mains? What are some of your favorites. Most people don't want to spend $20. a set for Luxilon like the pros. I am looking for a poly cross that marines well with natural gut to give you maximum playability. Right now I am using Hyper-G 20 gauge poly. The Solinco Hyper-G 20 in my gut / poly hybrid was arrived at by trying every other string in the Solinco line in 18 or 20 gauge (if available). Prior to that, I play tested numerous slick smooth rounded polys (dozens) to see which ones performed best. My top five previously priced under $14. a set were (in order): 1) Yonex Pro Tour FIRE 1.20; 2) Weiss CANNON Silverstring 17; 3) Kirschbaum Pro Line EVO; 4) Mayami Hit Pro 1.25; and, 5) MSV Co-Focus 17L (1.18). Just ordered Tier One GHOSTWIRE and Grapplesnake Tour M8 (which I have heard good things about. What would you top three polys be for cross strings with gut?

Hey guys, I'm using Dunlop CX400 Tour and looking for control in my strings. I'm thinking full bed poly but having concern about arm issues. Soft poly (like dunlop blackwidow) at 25/24 kg tensions would give me the control that I'm looking for? Or poly mains + gut cross would give me more control and spin when needed?

great video. have you tested Luxilon Savage? I use to use hyper g 1.25mm but sometimes my elbow hurts a little. so I was considering hyper g soft or hyper g 1.20 as you said, but a friend of my recommend me luxilon savage. is that any good like hyper g?
@allthingstennis
@allthingstennis 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! Luxilon savage isn't any softer as a poly than a hyper g, I'd try hyper g soft full bed or if your looking to get a softer feel for your elbow mix hyper g with a thin round cross, something like lynx touch or rpm soft which will still provide durability but comfort will be so much better!

How about different tensions in the mains and crosses? So a bit more tension in the mains (because they are longer) and less in the crosses. What do you think about this?

I tried full bad of rpm soft in Vcore 98… they stuck out of positions after 2-3 shots. Rpm soft even worse than multi for me. Element does so much better. Let’s see what lynx touch brings.
@allthingstennis
@allthingstennis 2 жыл бұрын
RPM Soft Isn't a poly, it's a multifilament/poly fusion so will move around in the frame. Whereas Element is a soft full poly, which won't move around in the frame but is a stiffer string.

There you go im thinking the higher the gauge the higher the mm. Why do they make that back to front and confusing?
@dwaynemcallister7231
@dwaynemcallister7231 9 ай бұрын
Gauge is a measure of thickness used for industrial wire and sheet metal so a higher gauge number is thinner lower gauge is thicker. Maybe it is better just to use mm if one is confused?
@Terminatortx33
@Terminatortx33 9 ай бұрын
@@dwaynemcallister7231 Yeah that was my point. When a number increases as for the gauge you think it means it increases the size ( Thickness) not the otherway around. So what does the actul measurement represent?
