Which tests should be done before IUI or IVF and why?
1. HIV I and II, HbsAg, Anti HCV and VDRL for both husband and wife
2. Semen analysis for the husband is very important as it reveals the count, motility and morphology of sperms
3. Trans vaginal ultrasound for female to assess reproductive organs
4. Antral Follicle Count (AFC) through USG TVS on day 2 / 3 of menstrual cycle
5. SIS or HSG between day 7 and 10 of menstruation for tubal patency detection
6. Blood for TSH and Prolactin of female partner
7. Blood sugar level need to be checked before IVF and sometimes before IUI
8. Immunity to Rubella has to be checked before pregnancy planning
9. Thalassemia screening test is very important
10. In case of IVF, pre anaesthetic investigations for wife and sometimes for husband if Sperm extraction/ Aspiration planned
11. Dummy ET is another important test in case of IVF to assess the negotiation path of embryo transfer catheter
