Thank you for a really great video from a 40 year Amateur photographer who is now looking for his first decent monopod and ball head.

tnx for the helpful video, quick question : i recently bought a manfrotto befree ball head advanced. i took it to help taking pictures for a friend of his paintings and sculptres, a few problems i had : once you lock a position to take a picture the balhead moves a little and changes the compositin, very annoying, and also there are no levels so you cant tell if you are completly horizontal and so on..i saw they sell seprtly a 3way head from manfrotto - will it be better for this photographs and also they have a hybrid tripod called befree advanced and it suppose to hybride video and photo, have you used it ? seems like an excellent solution for everything....sorry the quick question is long :)

Hey, yep that's always a bit of a problem with ballheads. They're not great for precision work. The three way is definitely better for artwork, although even they can move a bit when you tighten them - although at least it's only in one plane. Best would be a geared head, but they're not cheap, so unless you're planning to do a lot of this kind of work, a three way is probably a better all-round choice! As for the Befree Advanced - I haven't used it but there are a few reviews on KZbin. At the end of the day it's still a ball head, so it may be tricky to get it positioned exactly where you want it.
