I actually donated bone marrow through Be the Match last month! I had signed up about three years ago and was contacted as a match last year. As someone who hates needles, the hardest part was all the bloodwork done throughout the year, but everyone involved was super nice and accommodating and grateful throughout the whole process.

Fun fact: if you wear contact lenses, it shields your eyes from whatever chemical causes them to tear up. I get to go in to work today and slice up 3 gallons of red onions to pickle, something that I have done many times before, and my contacts let me get through all of it without a single tear while everyone else around me is bawling, lolz!

I am really sensitive to onions, and I tried everything in the past. Ice, fridge, fancy contraptions (that I never enjoy cleaning so I never use them again). Then a few years back I saw a girl somewhere wearing ski goggles while cutting onions. So I put my boyfriend's ski goggles on and it worked. So now I wear ski goggles when I cut onions and I never cry anymore. Super simple solution, albeit a little unfashionable LOL

What helps the most for me is having a SHARP knife because it slices through without much pushing so it doesn’t spray a lot of juice up in the air. I have really good knives and sharpen them every single time before I chop onions. I also dice a couple at the same time and store them in a Tupperware to use throughout the week.
