We all know there's really only one version of the game to play. The PC version just offers you so much that paying for any other version feels like you're being ripped off.

13:17 they can't release a patch to include high res textures as the xbox series / xbox one version is simply the original xbox game being emulated. The developers aren't able to make any tweaks to the game without making a brand new port.

that's not true in regards to textures or audio, PC based emulation has been doing it for years it would operate supplementary unpacking the data with operational context and replacing it with the brand new data then repacking to run through the software based emulation that Microsoft uses

Very easy question. PC is the best. 3 main reason - mouse, console, mods. ANY of those reasons alone already make it much much better than console, combined - it's night and day. Your main focus in this video is on textures and resolution - huge mistake, they are not that important.

dude this comment SCREAMS PC elitism, while I will agree that the PC version is the best and the version I go to you saying that the mouse is a major reason it's better is very VERY subjective, the console being a reason is actually perplexing to me that you would believe this all versions of the games have cheat codes, and not everyone wants mods. Additionally there's the accessibility factor the console versions are easily the most accessible due to not needing the bevy of fan made patches and fixes that the PC version requires just to get it up and running. if you watch my video you'd know that I did pick the PC version as my top point but my focus on visuals is not my only reasoning, I mention things like framerate, input lag, and I even mention the major perk of the Switch's portability and if you REALLY do watch the video you'd know that I said that there's not even a bad version of the game and implore everyone to just play it, maybe you should take a page from that book

played the original JK in college... it was THE online game for me for many years. jedi outcast also great, JKA I still run in a dedicated server to this day! the 360 version really disappointed me the first time, it was so buggy it crashed whenever you tried to load up multiplayer, but finally they fixed it and it's much more playable now. a very tough game to play effectively on that format with no mods and forced to use a controller rather than mouse and keyboard (yes, I have the keyboard adapter but you can't map all individual force powers to keys!). still, great video thanks for covering all this. I was also sad to hear that the newer console ports were patched to prevent PC players from cross playing (because they were kicking everyone's butts and they were afraid of losing sales or something... silly)

The best version is the PC version! Then clearly comes the Xbox version via the backwards compatibility of the new Xbox consoles. The advantages over the Ps4 & Switch Remaster are a larger Fiel of View and more freely assignable buttons for the Force. Yes, the textures are a bit worse. But the gameplay is much more pleasant because of the additional buttons!

@@raphaelhatake8706 yes it's not by much, switch has the updated menus from the 're released version but the Xbox version is a bit brighter. You can't go wrong with either version tbh they're all good :)

@@thelastofus2872 I think there is a big difference. The half weapon disappears at the bottom of the screen in the Switch/playstation version. In general, you have about 1/3 less image. Also, the fact that you still have freely assignable buttons on the Xbox version, on which you can place the Force, is very pleasant for the gameplay. Of course, it's also a cool game on the Switch/Playstation. But if you have the option, you should go for the Xbox version.

@@raphaelhatake8706 so I actually didn't notice this myself until you pointed it out, and I think I know what it is, the FOV isn't actually smaller the camera zoom is, because Aspyr utilized the PC port they were stuck to 4:3 resolutions, when they altered the source to allow for 16:9 it would have caused a crop but the resulting FOV would have read out as the same, and since they were working on the UI they wouldn't have discovered this without an a/b comparison with the Xbox version which was one of the few Xbox games to have native 16:9

not sure what logic went into deciding which version got better textures. anything xbox one/ps4 and forward should have gotten remastered textures.

The saber throw looked like the spin timing hit the back of the hilt against the tree, it bounced back a lil, then went froward again (just as you would expect with magical space wizard powers) and the second time, blade hit it first.

the way the physics of the game work is once it leaves the hand however it makes the entire saber have damage collision meaning that the hilt in essence becomes the blade as well it's interaction with the tree is simply a minor audio glitch

@@conandude76 jedi knight 2 and this game utilized the same engine and lightsaber functionality. They coded it where when the lightsaber is released from Jaden/Kyle's hand it draws a simple geometric shape starting from 5 vectors from the top of the blade to 5-10 vectors from the bottom (depending on your hilt selection) and adds damage collision to it, the purpose of this is because the saber regardless of what direction it's thrown always returns in a straight line back to the player if the hilt was a physical marker without damage collision it would make this impossible for taking out a missed enemy on the return trip; if it collides with a parry then it triggers a different animation where it redraws to the lightsaber hilt only (deactivated saber) and lands on the ground somewhere in the environment, this causes no damage as it strikes a parry which causes it to redraw and the redrawn deactivated saber acts as an active prop in the environment without damage collison so that it can react physically without damaging, if it successfully makes it back to Jaden/Kyle's hand it redraws back to the default saber and keeps it activated (standard saber).

Outcast and Academy Touch technically aren't official ports or back compat releases (you can't find them on the app store) they're actually a fan made project, while cool, they're not official versions of the games

Not sure about Nintendo Switch version, but I believe that Xbox version of the game is the original Xbox version that runs through Microsoft own emulation - hence why it has lesser graphics than PS4/PC version.

the PC, PS4, and Switch versions are all running off the updated version of the game that has improved menus however it's not the reason for improved textures, the improved textures are a result of remastering on the PS4 and Switch and a few mods on PC all Xbox versions are running the original version of the game with more basic menus and is roughly equivalent to the PC's vanilla high textures

From my understanding, the PC version looks the best, and it also has the bonus maps and allows for double the player count of that in the Xbox version, but is missing the music in the main menu and the split screen mode from the Xbox version. The Xbox version supports split screen, but the player limit is lower and it doesn’t have the bonus map packs from the PC version. It’s no surprise that the console versions lack mod support, but that’s honestly the least of my worries because I genuinely don’t care about mods. The PS4 and Switch versions are both lazy ports due to missing features and the fact that they were handled by Aspyr. Aspyr has a history of dishing out lazy and shoddy ports with minimal effort. If you ask me, I would steer clear of any port handled by Aspyr.
