Clip point looks cooler to me... Decent steel, good cutting geometry, but the handle is a little too small for me.There is a crowd for the little finger...That's why I prefer the xl version.But you can't get a better knife for the money, whether it's the L or XL version😊

Probably the clip because I already own two of them. One has a plain edge and the other has the half serrated. I carried the Voyager XL for ten years. However, I do also have the drop point on my shopping list on Amazon. Now I carry the 4Max Scout.

Love that damn drop point saw it and ordered it immediately, always carry my 4 max elite in my waist daily as a Gardner here on an island and just began working that voyager in, not quite the heft but still love it 😊

The Drop Point. I carried the Clip Point as recently as yesterday, but the Drop Point gets more pocket time. However, both of them get overshadowed by the XL Drop Point, which I think is the pinnacle of the Voyager line.

I have the drop point large and xl because I loved them when I saw the shape. Unfortunately, both were very thick behind the edge and require a lot of work with the Ken onion to get somewhere I’m happy with. Wish they were ground thinner. Sturdier tip though.

Gotta be honest, I’ve used a lot of knives in the military and in outdoor environments, I’m just so use to making whatever the tool at hand work that I rarely pay attention. For me it’s really about durability and weighing that against can it sharpen and hold an edge.

I love them both. My xl drop point came with a flat spot in the belly though, and I’ve had my xl clip point for about five years, and now I have my dads as well. It’s the cheaper steel, and he had to reprofile it since he snapped the top off years ago, but the clip points are definitely the winners in my book

A Bowie-style blade would be my choice, no matter what. There are very less folding knives anywhere with a Bowie-style shaped blade.

I like both, been a cold steel guy for 20 years, what I don't like is AUS10 steel which seems to chip easier compared to the old VG knives evem though supposedly they're equal in performance

Partial to my clip point voyager. I did notice just yesterday that the point and belly are approximately a good 1/4” lower on the drop point vs clip point Recon 1’s. (4” models)

When you stand up the Recon 1’s horizontally the clip point rests on the guard and butt. The belly is apx. 1/4” off the table while the drop point rests on the blade belly and butt with the guard barely off the table. (Clip point is an older version, drop point is current)

Point aside. Im very disappointed with Voyager cause they call him "everymans" knife, but they done nothing make him everyman knife. First of all we need some texture under pocket clip (like spyderco done). Second we need proper smaller versions of this knife with ≈85mm and ≈75mm blade. When i say proper, i talk mostly about handles with smaller models. Then this knives would be truly "everymans" knives. Also rly sad that they didn't continue with pro lite line and improve it. For me pro lite (working man) was true "everymans" knife. Ps also would be great in multiple sizes.

Drop point voyager definitely has more belly to it. Besides that let's be honest drop point will always be handier than a tacticool clip point

@@escapetherace1943 maybe because in my experience a drop point in the field is going to perform just as good if not better in actual field work and not just sticking hobos. Trust me I rag on the clip point but I really do like it but in practicality for me drop point any day and save the clip point for taking the lady out on the town.

@@Hunglikeagrimsmo okay. Clip points have been used for harder field work than you've ever done ever since the bowie got popularized almost 200 years ago, son. I agree the drop point is structurally more sound and the tip isn't as thin, but it's a modern steel modern knife, the clip point stands up to crazy abuse tests. I am speaking of the XL, actual man sized knife. If you have an L I can see the drop point being alright I guess.
