Just found your channel, subscribing. On the point of negative comments... I never post negative views, what is very important though is to differentiate between negative comments and constructive suggestions! Thos can sometimes appear as negative but are offered to help educate and make life a little easier through past experiences.

Absolutely, I agree! We welcome constructive criticism, suggestion, etc. The comments I am referring to were blatantly negative. So glad you found us though! Welcome 🤗

In 2023 I’m happy to see kids getting out and learning life skills. Sometimes leaving them alone to learn on their own is essential to independence.
@RockWellAcresFarm2023 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. Austin is very independent. Sometimes too much. Colton still needs some encouragement. We actually homeschool, and life-skills is a big focus.

MOM! They need hearing protection. Believe me I know. Please get them some and make it a habit to wear them.
@RockWellAcresFarm2023 Жыл бұрын
They are actually wearing small foam type ear plugs. I may have cut it out of the video, them fumbling to get them in, but I thought i included it in there. 🤔 My mom, their grandmother, was a speech-language pathologist. It’s been hammered into me to protect hearing since that’s something that you can never get back.

Cows have a lot of time to pick through hay . Lespadeza is like feeding corn to a cow. If a cow won't eat something chances are there not hungry. Great to see kids OUTSIDE !! Here from NW Missouri in cattle co.

Now I love to see these kind of things , , , I mean , 14 and 11 ! How cool is that to pass on what you know and have them both up and ready to go ! ! ! I LOVE IT : ) Sadly we just don`t see this much anymore ..........

Gotta be honest with you, really aren’t passing along what we know. We did have some farm animals in the past, but never baled hay as we just didn’t have enough animals to make it worth investing in anything. All of the baling, cutting, raking stuff is pretty much Austin teaching himself. He used to watch all kinds of videos on tractors and large equipment ever since he was a toddler. He’s learned most of it on his own and from talking to neighbors and older men in the community that have been working with machinery for years. Anyway, welcome to the channel!

Forget the negative nancys. You guys are doing great. I was a wee youngin and sittin on bale wagon way back in '75. Now im 52 and make idiot bales. Only bad thing I see is, get a fire extinguisher on that baler. With dry hay rows and a bearing over heats or goes out, you wont get that baler off the field fast enough, especially if hay is in it. Keep up the good work. Hope you guys stay around.

It's cool how you've got them doing custom work already. I started driving combine by myself at 10. Then full time harvest combine driver by 12. Have a good one! I subbed. Cool content. I was warned in the beginning about KZbin being harsh on children working and child labor laws. Good luck.

Austin had been working with a neighbor who was a professional welder. He’s been showing him the ropes. But Austin has been engineering things for as long as I can remember. He comes by it naturally. His grandfather worked as a maintenance man for a very large corporation here in AR, one that is known worldwide. He came up with a plan to help change their production lines to make them more efficient and presented it to corporate. They took his designs and use it on the assembly line today. Sadly, he never got paid a dime for that. I guess Austin just inherited the engineering gene. I really don’t know about all of the labor laws and stuff. I couldn’t find much specific I for about it on KZbin. I guess we’ll show what they do until someone in high places in a fancy office decides we can’t anymore, lol. Thanks for watching!

Combines are awesome machines. If we put Austin in one of those, I don’t think he would ever want to quit working!

I was not aware they ever made a tractor with exhaust underneath. What's the deal with negative comments? I believe that the best place for kids is outside. Being a farmer lets you produce real things and learn real skills. Glad you got your youngest one out there and he's liking it. As a kid I was always wanting to get out and do something but my parents were overprotective. Good for you for encouraging them to do things.. You learn a lot working with old equipment!
@RockWellAcresFarm2023 Жыл бұрын
Tractors with exhaust underneath was not exactly good engineering, imho. You know how people are. If they have a different opinion, sometimes they will let you know, in a not-so-nice way. Most people have been very encouraging and uplifting. A select few have have critical things to say and the way it comes across is not constructive criticism. I understand about the overprotective parents. Sometimes I feel that within myself and then my husband has to tell me “It’s fine. They will be fine. Let them be boys.” There’s definitely a balance you have to keep.

The Boys are dping great. They will definitly grow up to be hard workers. I do have concerns with their choice of footwear while working with farm machinery. To easy to get feet tangled up with pedals. Voice of experence.
@RockWellAcresFarm2023 Жыл бұрын
I understand the concern. I have concerns about that myself. With Austin, we can hardly get his feet in boots because his feet are so wide. He literally wears Crocs in the snow because that’s pretty much all that fits him. I’m thinking we will have to find some some kind of extra-wide working boot or hiking boot because we can’t find a leather cowboy type boot that fits his feet. And Colton just went through a huge growth spurt! 2 1/2 inches in about 2 months and nothing would fit on his foot besides his slide shoes. But he will be getting an upgrade for sure.

baler looks to be making a good tight bale

It does for sure! Sometimes so tight it’s hard to fork.

Austin go to Harbor Freight and get some cheap tools and a tool box for the tractor. That way they will always be with you. Hammer, wrenches, sockets and screwdrivers. Also get lubricant. You will need them all. Best of Luck.

New Holland 256 is a great rake Listening to yours, it sounds like some of the teeth are striking the dividing bar. Maybe bent teeth or worn out bearings. It's worth fixing. Turn the bar by hand to see where it's hitting. Good luck to you and your family.

People don’t know how to work these days. Let me guess…picking up 60# square bales out of the field? I bet you were fit and strong though.

I was always a stacker. Never got to run the baler or rake. Strong guys were always stuck stacking.....lol
