I mean they both sound great. That CW just sounds like home... from the first strum... I would have chosen it too.

After listening through a PA, and then really good headphones, I like the CW slightly better. The mids are a little more distinguished with almost a nasally quality them (in a good way). Looks and sounds older too. Good choice in my opinion.

You're keeping the right guitar in my honest opinion. And honestly the country western may look kinda raggedy but to me that looks awesome 😅 this ain't no "antiqued guitar", it's earned every scar. And I second what's been said: the C/W sounds better

Keep the CW. It has more detail and inlay, etc. it’s much harder to replace. 😊

Yeah, I agree, keep the C&W! It is a much rarer bird, and through my speakers, I think it sounds better, who cares if it is honestly aged. I wish my J-50 had been unmolested by a well meaning cabinet maker, I would much prefer the age and wear of 61 years.

This one plays better and sounds better, says it all right there. I don't know if it's my dream guitar, but one of coolest guitars I ever got to play was a 1945 J45. It sounded amazing and was super light. It had a 50s era gold foil sound hole installed the also sounded really good. As far as acoustic guitars are concerned, my favorites makers are Larrivée and Guild. I have a Larrivée D-09BZ that I will never sell.

Can you help me with a family heirloom type of thing? Does the fretboard having extra inlays down the fretboard, all the way to the last fret --- does that signify anything?

Hey Jeremy! Italian fan here, i admire what you do here on youtube and in january i've bought my first "serious" guitar, a 1960s j-50 (not a vintage one, but the reissue that gibson made in 2021/2022) and i absolutely love it (i'm 24 by the way and i saved for 6 months to buy it). I want to ask you, if it's possible, what song are you playing at 4:53 ? I listen to it in every single video where you test a new guitar and i love it! Thank you in advance and keep doing what you do, you are great!

Leonardo! Thanks for watching and your comment. I am just riffing there, that is something that I made up a few months ago. It is in D major, starts with a d chord then does a walk down to a B minor then an a and g, then resolves back to D.

The beat up one’s sound better. I still think about an old D-18 on consignment at Carter’s. It had a hole drilled through the headstock. It looked like it had been kept in a barn and rats had chewed on it. The sound is still in my head. It was so much better than the clean ones. I think about that guitar often. It was in horrible shape and they wanted mint price so I left it there.

I know how hard that decision is. I have a 1966 J50 and a 1959 J50. If I had to part with one it would keep me up at night. I do think your chances of getting another 60’s j45 or 50 will be much greater though.

The J-45 would be cool but it's a wreck. I have one in a case that I inherited from my wife's grandpa and as much as I want to keep it I think I gotta get rid of it as I'll never be able to afford to fix it and the money I can get from as is can pay for fixing stiff like my Princeton and/or one of my other guitars, like the crack in my Gibson M-35's top. Enjoy the hell out of that Country Western!🎸🤘

I have a 2014 j-45. The guy I bought it from said he looked at 4 other j-45s before he bought this one. Some j-45s have a deep low end some a shimmering top and some are balanced Just right. I like the growly J-45 work horse sound. I like the CW too.

No,no,that 63 gibson j 45 is an exelent guitar . Just the right amount of oomph and ballance. It records so well and sounds great through the microphone . Small performance taperd neck. You must remember to keep an open eye out for the original donovan leech cherry sunburst j 45 thst was stolen back stage of one of his concerts . It was never found or recoverd research the story.

It is the original bridge just has been filled and recut. Thought I mentioned it?
@Ziraffe2
@Ziraffe2 10 ай бұрын
Yes, you mention the bridge is filled - but it's obviously not the case, mister Sheppard. Please, look again. Had this bridge been original, it would have had the 2 pearl dots placed on each side of the b-pins. Besides the bridge would have been plastic, which was the norm i 63 - and probably was the reason behind the replacement. Heys from Copenhagen

Yes, it's a replacement - and it is filled as stated. But because of a wrongly positioned groove, which had to receive a wooden slice in order to move the new groove back towards the pins for a decent intonation. Hi

Through the video recording, the 57 has a much more broken in, pluckier tone. The 61 is shinier sounding, which I don’t like as much. And the 57 is also cooler looking…

The 45 has that trebly-stringnoisy-thing that a lot of vintage guitars have, and the country western doesn't. Do you know why? ...I don't like the trebly-stringnoisy-thing, but I guess you learn to forgive the guitar for it when it's old and awesome. It's not just me, right?
