I love how classy the 80's were, Wicker introduced the young man & his "companion."

Wonderful. I watched this in 1982 and went on VSOE in 1985 with my mother to mark her retirement. Nigel Dempster is spot on about a experience you will never forget. Unlike modern documentaries not ever second is packed with a host who feels they have to say something meaningless. Whicker is brilliant, his final concluding sentence is genius..

A host who speaks in whole sentences without using peculiar emphasis on odd words to break them up into breathless declarations. And doesn't ask everyone from the band members to the bed makers how they 'feel' about it all..as though the audience is a lot of wooden planks. Conversation used to be considered an art. People learned how to make it,in a way that brought out the other person by being witty and interested, you were expected to make the other person feel at ease and entertained in equal measures. We can see the last vestiges here.
