Nicely spent time with dress me up scotty. Those books are made beautifully and look to be in good condition. Currently i am stranded in a place where the existence of books are almost forgotten. So i hope i would find books like these one miraculous day. Thanks for the nice video dress me up Scotty

1) I love your videos so much that I found myself liking before it even started 2) That blue looks fabulous with your hair color 3) I would definitely consider buying your fairy mirror if I had the money . . . Let's hope my job starts giving me more hours again 🤞🏻 4) Thanks for making me feel better about not finishing books because of my ADHD :)

I have the complete My Book House set. My parents bought them years ago, when they first started a family. They have such gorgeous illustrations in them. Lots of great folktales from all over the world too. Also my daughter did a cool thing, she used L brackets to fashion shelves out of books. You can stack a few or use just one and put things on it as a shelf. The great thing is it doesn’t harm the book and you can swap out different books for different theme if you like. So in case you need shelves, use books! 😊

My only advice with this thrifting books is please check for Foxing (yellow spots) - there is a dangerous myth that Foxing is ‘just aging’ but its not. It is a book mold, it spreads and as its a mold, it isn’t good for our or pets health. Last year i lost 80% of my book collection when i discovered this. It had spread to books i brought new within the previous 6 months. I had brought second and had a few rare books in my collection that had all gotten destroyed. I went searching for information and book restores said to use Clove oil on mild cases as it kills the spores, so i believe i was able to save a few mild cases. Saddly most of my books were to far gone to safe. It makes me so angry people say it’s ‘just ageing’. Ive seen 100’s year old books with NO foxing. It’s not aging. It can be prevented and it harms ‘newer’ books. I want to prevent anyone else going through the loss i did with losing so many loved books.

As someone who loves the Bronte sisters and there works (Jane Eyre is my favorite book of all time) Wuthering Heights is tricky, mostly because of the names and it's a bitch and a half to keep them straight: people named after each other, or with the other families last name as a first name, then combinations of those and it's a little confusing. Also, it's pretty grim and there is animal cruelty. I always recommend Jane Eyre, one of the reasons I love it so much is that it is basically a fanfiction of Emma by Jane Austen, as Charlotte read the book and was inspired by one of the characters in that book and wrote a whole AU of what he life could have been like., I am obsessed. I collect copies of it.

Some wonderful book finds...and yes I am with you, I buy books and don't read.... My brain wonders too much which is odd as I once read non stop. I want to try to get back to reading again as I do miss it. Also love the top!

What a great thrift haul! Wuthering Heights is really not my favorite classic, but it's one of my friend's all time fave and that copy is gorgeous!! Barnes and Noble really put out some lovely leather bound classics too -- I've got a crimson and black Dracula that I treasure.

They really do! I always eyed the Sherlock Holmes and the Sci-fi Classics one and I’m so happy that I’ve been able to thrift them in the past year! I’m keeping an eye out for more of them for sure!

Wuthering Heights is brilliant! As long as you don't read it as a love story. It gets mistaken for one a lot, but it really isn't. Heathcliff and Catherine aren't supposed to be role models. The message of it is more like a gothic Moby Dick than anything else.

Wuthering Heights is beautifully written, though I'm not a big fan of the story. It did inspire the Kate Bush song and the trippy video, so that's a win. Big fan of the Preraphaelites! I did an Ophelia photo shoot in a bathtub full of flowers (fully clothed). Good times! The lives of the PRB and the women around them is as fascinating as the art they made.

I like Wuthering Heights. It’s a gothic novel so yes, grim like others have said. Although goth is not my aesthetic, gothic novels are my preference with older books.

Try books by Tamora Pierce in both of her Young Adult Universes: 🔸Tortall (knights and magic) - starting with Alanna: the first adventure 🔸Circle (Mages & Magic) - starting with Sandry's Book (or in the UK - The Magic in the Weaving)

That blue shirt looks so freaking pretty! Also I am envious of your ability to find cute tins. That butterfly one is an excellent catch lol As for the books, hilariously I have a Brothers Grimm that is very similar (I feel like I've mentioned that before in another comment to you) that has an outer illustration, but none inside, but the outside is So Pretty. I've not really come across the set that you got (at least as far as I remember) but from what I have seen from you they are very aesthetically pleasing.
@DressMeUpScotty Жыл бұрын
Thank you! 🩵 The tins I find are always in the craft section that they place in the same isle as the holiday decor (at least in my stores) and not the actual home decor, I’ve also found some cool boxes there too! I didn’t used to check that section and I always wondered where the cool tins and boxes were hehe

Love the video. You got some great find. I love the Lord of the Rings books you got. I have the movie addition on my dream list.😊 Just a thought maybe you got film the making of your fairy mirror. Also just got to ask, why the star stickers? They were cute, but unexpected.
@DressMeUpScotty Жыл бұрын
The star stickers are actually pimple patches haha. I usually use clear round ones but when I went to buy more I saw the star ones and thought they would be a fun and cute alternative 😆

@@DressMeUpScotty LOL. I've never seen ones like those before. Just took me back to when I was a kid and would see how many stickers I could fit on my face at one time.😆😆😆

Personal and probably quite unpopular opinion: I think all of those hyped books may it be Jane Austen or Emily Bronte or someone elso of that time are quite overrated and fairly boring for my taste. But I still hope for you you might like it. Love the little trinkets you found.
