13:50 The problem is, that Sims will only on rare occasions autonomously start an activity they don't have any skills in. That's why they often flock towards a TV, because that's the only activity they can do without a corresponding skill. (Probably to stop them from immediately gaining skills in every activity at once and have the player decide which activity they prefer, over time)

While I see the point of this mechanic, I desperately wish it was a toggleable option in the settings like weather effects and build/buy stuff giving moodlets. Sometimes I like setting my sims up with activities and getting them into hobbies but sometimes I just wanna set them loose and watch the chaos (or lack thereof) but that means they'll basically never get any skills. I mean, aside from things like guitar, fitness, charisma, cooking..

I honestly thought the game with the tv was whoever first turned on the tv would lose, but you know how to keep both sims and your YT audience on their feet by subverting expectations! :-) I am not surprised that these sims were uncooperative. It definitely fits their storylines after they see the first one killed and realize the game to win money meant losing their lives if they lost. Considering that you stated clearly in the introductions that they’re all essentially selfish, their protests weren’t out of concern for others but was for themselves. Now I’m kinda curious as to what the winner does with all that prize money!

Theres someone on Mod The Sims (i think their name was something like Purple Thistles) who made a whole challenge and build like this that was sorta a take on that Netflix show 3%, but instead of the loser being the 1st to stop it was the person who gained the least skills. I think an interesting challenge could be getting a bunch of very different sims into a buils like this and seeing if their personality types affect how they fare

I've noticed that with certain skills, sims won't autonomously build skills unless you introduce them to the skill. And other skills they will autonomously build the skill without having previous knowledge of it. I've seen sims autonomously build the guitar skill without being introduced to it. But comedy they can't be bothered. This is the inconsistent programming of Maxis. You can also see it in the build mode. Start placing kitchen cabinets, and you can go for days unless you run out of money. And other objects, you need to use the Y button to place multiples. One of the biggest cause of the bugs and glitches in the Sims 4 is this inconsistent programming. At least, it's what I believe.
