The fabric of your dress is perfect on you Karina! I love your mum, you can see she’s a begrudging model but she has a cheeky smile anyway as she sashays in her lovely skirts 🥰 I also appreciate you including your up close and sew personal sewing snapshots. Used your link and bought both patterns 🎉

It's nice that you showed how the back is longer than the front. I know some sewists overlook that requirement on some garments. Also, it's the reason I never make a skirt or dress in horizontal stripes. 😄

Hi Karina thanks again for a great tutorial. Do you think if making just the skirt with Yoga WB that 2 way stretch would be OK? Thanks again Julie
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
Yes. 2 way is fine for the skirt :)
@ivywells29092 жыл бұрын
You and your mum look lovely! I was considering this pattern but I am very short-waisted and waist seam looked fairly low on Kate and the handful of other models I've seen. The longer bodice looks just right on you, which makes me wonder if the regular bodice would be OK for me after all.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
Knit bodice fitting is very personal. Some people add length when it’s not needed because the pattern pieces look “short”…. But knits stretch vertically too. The skirt brings the seam down a little too. So usually adding is not necessary.
@reneemorgan93202 жыл бұрын
I bought the pattern after watching your video. Do you think lining the bodice front and back would work ok so I don't have to use the neck and arm bands? Like you have done the LN Summer Basics dress? I made the PE Go To dress once but I think I would prefer the look of the lining versus the bands as well.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
What I’d do it cut the lining a little smaller so that it pulls the armhole and neckline in a little…. To avoid gaping.

Karina, I don't own a surger. Can I substitute such if I combine steps by using a wide zig zag, short length over the edges of the side seams?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
A zig zag is enough. No need for another straight stitch.

Thank you for the terrific video. What fabric did you use as the lining for the back bodice?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
ITY knit. A tad lighter than the main fabric but with the same stretch.
@montezbrown2461 Жыл бұрын
What kind of fabric do you use for the yoga waistbands?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles Жыл бұрын
In these skirts I used the same fabric as the skirts. They are all athletic knits with 10% spandex.
@cherylberry59822 жыл бұрын
Will I need the full bust adjustment on this one?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
Only if the full bust is 2 sizes larger than the high bust on the chart. They explain a simple FBA for knits. Totally different to the traditional one with darts used with wovens.
@lesliez16522 жыл бұрын
Just to confirm - FBA needed if the full bust on my chosen size (done by upper bust measurment) is two sizes larger than the full bust measurement of my selected pattern size or if your full bust measurement is two inches more than the full bust on the pattern chosen first by high bust pattern measurement? I think I realized my own answer... possible FBA needed if my full bust measurment is approximately 4 inches larger than my chosen pattern by upper bust measurement (usual two inches for each pattern size you go up)... Also, question on serger seam - at 1/4 or 3/8 inch seam - does your serger sew a seam that will sustain itself (especially in critical side seams) or do you find it necessary to still run a seam near the serging - I haven't had experience with knits but everyone seems to rely on a serged seam to hold together instead of just giving a neat finish. Love all you do. Going to pick up those two patterns today with your link.

I love the go to dress. I seem to have some difficulty when serging circles as to how and when to run off the edge. Also do you tuck the tails back through the serged seam?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
I used to tuck the tails. Not I undo the loops at the end and make a little knot :)
@lynnshepard74852 жыл бұрын
I’m having difficulties with getting the running off the edge correct consistently, too. I was trying to keep an eagle eye out each time Karina was doing it, but alas.
