This makes my heart sing. My old whippet Luigi is 14 years old and can't walk far and wears a nappy...but he was once as this whippersnapper! Luigi is happy though as he has got a little 2 yr old jack russell, Biscotti, to pull his tail and to rest his head on her tummy. 😊

That's about 2/3 of the speed that the dog can run. Only way to make them run flat out is to put game or a lure in front of them.

Greyhounds are a bit faster than whippets. Your figures work out to about 36 mph and the OP's about 27 mph...both realistic, if a bit below the speeds some specimens of their breed are supposed to be capable of.

The title says 110M. It's a cricket field, so the size is probably well known by the crew. He wasn't necessarily running full out (without some kind of motivation), and he had to slow down to stop at the end. Also better traction on a real track that's been leveled versus an uneven grassy field.

If you position the person who waits for the dog, say at 110m, the time would decrease maybe to 8 seconds at 100m. It is because, probably the dog slows down the speed when he aproachs the other person. Awesome. I love these dogs. Usain Bolt is a giant. 😊

That's still slow for a racing dog. 300m tracks are done in 17 seconds. 8 seconds x 3 and we'll even take 2 seconds of for the sake of saying speed build up, 22 seconds. I certainly would not have this dog for racing

Yeah it was a quick run but not a full sprint. Our whippet does the same. Put a rabbit in front of it or another dog chasing them having fun and they go up a couple of gears instantly.

Whippets top speed is around 45mph. Humans is around 35mph. But the dog slowed down at the end. Whippet could probably do 7.5 seconds flat out without slowing. Human can do 9.5 seconds. So - sounds about right to me.

This is actually pretty accurate. The fastest 100M EVER run is Usain Bolt's 9.58 sec. If this is 110M and he slowed down at the end to greet his human, and he was not going full out, 9.27 sec. seems right in the zone of accuracy.
