2 medium onions
2 large bell peppers
1 large cabbage
1 bunch celery
1/4 c. minced garlic
1 large, 28 oz. tomatoes
1 pouch or 1/3 cup liston o ion soup mix, salt pepper, herbs
water to cover
boil till tender
cake
1 white cake mix bake according to box
8 oz. crushed pineapple with juice
1 cup sugar
1 /2 t. vanilla
8 oz. cream cheese
1 stick or 1/2 cup softened butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla
1 T. milk
2 cups crushed pecans

I didn't do the Cabbage Soup Diet since I couldn't eat more than 1/2 cup at a time . I can did make a cabbage veggie soup with tomato 🍅 and ha hamburger. You get the it started with all the ingredients and let. it stew on low heat for an hour.. I also added to some rice, so it was kinda unstuffed cabbage soup. I always made cornbread with it. I was making super healthy meals for my Mom and sons.

I went to school with Dolly's brother. I think he was in high school for many years. I remember going to a local cafe and Dolly's grandmother was there almost every single day. She had a special seat just for her, I guess, she was always in the same spot every time we ate there, maybe she never left.!! She was tiny, very ghostly pale and had a PILE of teased jet black hair like half the size of her head. She'd smile and nod as we'd look at her, she loved the fame she got being Dolly's grannie. Dolly was just starting out when I was a kid and the whole town was so proud of her on Porter Wagner's show. We used to pretend to be Dolly doing the Breeze Laundry Detergent commercials she did with Porter on the show. I saw Elvis once, I screamed and cried during the whole performance.

You had my heart when you put in the onions, bell pepper and that wonderful garlic. I always say when you think it's enough garlic add some more. No wonder the mosquitoes leave me alone. The soup is so good and a base for about any kind of meat and veggies you want, if you're not dieting.

I remember that diet and I don't think I ever made it all the way through before I gave up. That soup is delicious and the cornbread is a must it was the reason I never completed the diet. I have not had the Elvis cake but I bet before the weekend is up I will have made it. Thanks for sharing.

I remember this soup, had forgotten about it, but remember it. It looks yummy-probably didn't when I was a kid, but then my mother didn't like cabbage. I do...now. Dolly, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, etc....now they were country singers! I love Elvis, still listen to him almost every day. Went to Graceland in 2019 and loved it. Loved him as a performer, but also loved the beautiful, generous person he was. Yes, he knew food after not having much food growing! He wasn't going to do without anymore nor would any of his family. That cake looks so yummy! I will definitely make both of these recipes! You and Mr. Brown are so cute, love you guys! Hugs, Brenda

I to did this soup years ago we called it cabbage soup it works I lost 16 pounds the first week! By the 4th day the bananas were welcome if you get hungry eat the soup lol it works thanks for the reminder love your videos! I make this at least once a week. I like to add a bit of cumin and Smokey paprika and since I like a bit of heat, sometimes I add a problano or 1/2 jalapeño pepper to a large pot of it. Yummy!

Ooof....this one hurt. Brought back memories of all the diets I was forced into as a child/teen (none of which worked). I do remember my mom doing this soup a few times. I was never a fan but I bet it would be better with some ground beef in it. Will have to try it that way some time. "Are you aggravating me?" made me smile, though. You and Mr. Brown are so precious!

I've been making cabbage soup for a really long time... It's amazing how many variations are put together by different folks... I swear you could ask 100 people for their recipe and you could do a cookbook because they would all be different somehow... Great video!

I love a version of this soup. I don’t use the Lipton soup mix, but use my homemade chicken or beef stock instead, and add different seasonings to change up the taste. I also. love to add broccoli and bok Choy too.

Oh yes, love this video, getting ready to start my cabbage soup diet also. I did it a couple years ago, lost 10 lbs in one week. But can't stay on it, get off regulate your intake of food, then do it again. It is delicious says to have for every meal, then on the third day can ad some poultry or beef in it. Now loving this diet soup, and great looking cake, sounds good to me. the soup also calls for Cheyene peppers, they themselves are good to eat to lost weight and help with blood pressure. LOL

I did that "diet" soup as a teen and If I remember correctly the soup was unlimited quantity. But by the third or fourth day you were so sick of soup you were lucky to get a cup down!😊

You & Mr Brown would have a fit if you saw the corn muffins my family eats. Do remember tho, I’m born & raised in PA Dutch country. Our corn muffins are SWEET, I mean topped with coarse grain “gourmet sugar” sweet. It’s the only way my husband & son eat them. I add a lot of dark brown sugar, good splash of our homemade vanilla, extra melted butter to the recipe & sprinkle the tops with that sugar. It makes a crunchy sweet topping(I buy it in bulk from the Amish store). No hot peppers or chiles. Definitely not southern cornbread, but they have to have them with chili. Sweet & spicy.

I just made a similar soup they use for dieting too. Instead of Lipton onion soup we used thyme , lil salt n black pepper & sautéed the mushrooms & clove garlic with your sauté’ veggies !! Yummy

I do the same thing with the pineapple but I also add a small jar of marchino cherries and cook it with the pineapple. Then pour it over the cake. And I leave out the icing.

Long time follower! Love your channel. I remember my mom putting me on this diet in 6th grade. We were going to do it together for a week to lose a few pounds, but man I could not do that soup every single day back then. Now I really love veggie soup, but still I don't think I could do it every day lol. But another great diet soup is Jenny Craig Tuscan Soup with eggplant and tomatoes, zucchini and mushrooms. It's really yummy. I could almost eat that everyday. Love all your videos and recipes!!!!!!!
