In America, a political party's presidential candidate is chosen not by party elders but by party delegates accumulated through primary elections. Biden has already won enough delegates to earn the Democratic party's nomination. Those party delegates are legally obligated to nominate Biden. So it will just be a formality for the Democratic Party to nominate Biden on Aug 19. It is just like King Charles must appoint the Labour leader who has won the general election as Prime Minister. If King Charles refused to do do so, it would be a constitutional crisis. Likewise, if the Democratic Party refuses to nominate Biden, it would be a constitutional crisis. If Biden steps down before the nomination, his party delegates won't automatically transfer to Harris, it would set the stage for a big and ugly fight for party delegates, which I don't think the Democratic Party would want to happen. Therefore, I see no reason why Biden will not be nominated by the Democrats. The NY Times published a lot of fake stories about Biden's being forced out, which is as nonsensical as the Russia Gate scandal. That's exactly why Donald Trump called NY Times "fake news media". It is not up to Jill Biden to determine whether her husband can run or not. The political system makes that determination. Jill Biden is no Madam Jiang Qing, please. If Joe Biden truly has dementia, which I don't know whether it is true or not because I am not a doctor, he will definitely lose the election because the American people are not stupid. If he loses, that means Donald Trump will win. If he wins, the political pendulum will swing to the right. Thus, Biden's alleged dementia may be a blessing in disguise. There is no crisis here, please. The American political system, as enshrined in the United States Constitution, which is the oldest constitution in the world, can stand the test of time.
