THANK YOU so very much for taking the time to make this video! This was my problem!!! I fixed it all by myself!

You're welcome Dana, I'm glad the fix worked for you. Actually, I have more to add on the problem - I just wrote an update in the text, so check that out. The gist of it is that in my washer, the peg came out of the splutch arm eye several times. So I added a "T" piece to the free end of the peg, which should permanently fix it.

I've got a Maytag washer every time I use it it bangs around like it's coming through the wall I've checked to see if it's unbalanced but it's not

The tub hub gears are probably stripped. Its plastic and common problem. A 3 piece metal hub is available and easy to install. But the washplate must be removed to access the hub and the washplate's centerpiece is often seized to the driveshaft making it very hard to remove. The outer tub has a bushing to center the driveshaft. It's also plastic and gets worn, allowing the driveshaft to wobble. Suspension rods become less affective over time as well. It has four. Newer models can be changed out from the top after tilting the top lid and console back. Three screws in the top back of console must be removed to do so. Look for one of many KZbin DIY tutorials.

Hi…mine makes the clicking noise but agitates fine…we did remove the agitator to clean and believe may have over tightened the first time. Do you think we cracked something or do we need a new agitator to fix clicking noise?
@daveg7
@daveg7 5 ай бұрын
Melissa, if it's the very same noise but the agitator still works, I wonder if the peg and splutch arm eye are somehow out of normal position yet still enough in position to transmit the necessary movement to switch between spin mode and agitate mode. Maybe tip the machine back and remove the motor cover, and eyeball it to see if everything looks in place or not. If it is, then there must be another cause for the clicking. Are you aware that you can use the machine's diagnostic capability to cause different operations (e.g. fill, drain, spin, agitate, etc.) to take place upon command? There are KZbins on how to do it. Maybe you could narrow down the operation that causes the noise that way. Then search other KZbins to see if anyone has posted a solution.

Thank you for the advice! Yes, no error codes. Same exact clicking noise excepts does agitate. We did replace the hub due to excessive shaking during spin cycle. Fixed that issue but now this a soon as that repair was complete. I see other people posting this noise on washers and some people are saying it’s normal and it does on their new washer. I just never remember hearing that click before. I guess something got out of whack doing the hub repair. Thanks again.

@@MelissaJohnGross Well, I will say that there is a certain amount of clicking (and many other noises) from these washers even when they are working as designed. I guess if you look underneath and everything is in place, it's possible you're just hearing the "normal" clicking.

Hi? We replaced the part a month or so ago and it’s back to clicking. Any idea what to do?
@daveg7
@daveg7 3 ай бұрын
So when you say you "replaced the part", do you mean that you replaced the peg into the eye of the splutch arm? If so, did you take any steps (as outlined in the video description, and in some of the comments) to prevent the peg from coming out again in the future?

Mine was doing the exact clicking noise. I looked underneath and the part was in the after position and not like your before. What else can it be??
@daveg7
@daveg7 4 ай бұрын
@elchango8862, you're getting the clicking noise, but is your agitation working or not? If the agitation is working properly, then chances are the noises you are hearing are the normal sounds for these washers - they do have quite a repertoire of noises. If the agitation is not working, and you are hearing the loud clicking, and yet the peg is properly in the splutch arm hole, then there must be some other part of the splutch mechanism (that switches between agitating and spinning) that is broken or out of place. You may be stuck with having a look at other KZbins that show how to do further dismantling, and dig into it to see what is broken.

@elchango8862, by the way, you may not be able to tell if the washer is doing a proper agitation if the lid is locked. Unscrew the screws holding the lid lock to the lid, then plug the removed lid lock mechanism into its hole in the washer body. That way you will be able to run the machine and open the lid at any point to see what it's doing.

Thanks for this! Although I am back after fixing this issue last week as it just happened again. These parts should not be plastic on plastic. Does anyone have solution ideas for a permanent fix for this issue?

@@daveg7 excellent! I just finished with my (hopefully permanent) fix! Since the clutch arm has a hole all the way through the post I just sat the arm back in the eyelet, and ran a durable yet bendable wire through the post to create a closed loop and twisted it off snug.

@@Liquid_Fear Great idea. That should work yet it sounds quicker and easier than my solution of a T-piece and a screw/nut. Thanks for sharing!

so, mine clicks just like that but the leg is still in place through the hole, so what is my problem?
@daveg7
@daveg7 Жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, that's a good question. Have you disabled the lid lock so you can open the lid during an agitate phase, to see if the agitator is or is not moving? If the agitator is moving normally, then it's a similar noise but related to something else. If, on the other hand, the agitator is not moving, then I guess some other mechanism in the shifter function is broken or out of place. Note that to make it easier to diagnose, the VMW washers have a service test function. Using the main cycles knob, you can cause to washer to spin, agitate, fill, etc. There are KZbins that show the procedure.

I would still say that don't buy those kind of Whirlpool/Maytag washers, they are so cheap. Buy the dual action agitator models of those washers.
