Awesome ballad from their latest cd - LOOOOOOVE that final solo - Perrrrrrfect!!!
***** ***** ***** ***** *****
Old man is walking down memory lane
His piercing stare tears out through the rain
You can see in his eyes
Ain’t too much life left in them veins
He tells his son “I’ll be out on the run if I ever get out of this chair”
And if you don’t mind, I’ll be out of my mind
Thanks for the time you could spare
Cause I know you’re leavin
Don’t leave me believing I might
Your smile is misleadin
Your eyes are deceiving my fight
Cause I can’t hold on
And I can’t move on
Young man is walkin down Faith Avenue
Can’t understand what he’s fixin to lose
You can see through his tears a moment of fear come creepin through
He tells his father he wouldn’t even bother
If I could ever get over you
And if you don’t mind, I’ll make up for lost time
I swear on my life this is true
Cause I know you’re leavin
Don’t leave me believing I might
Your smile is misleadin
Your eyes are deceiving my fight
Cause I can’t hold on
And I can’t move on
Cause I know you’re leavin
Don’t leave me believing I might
Your smile is misleadin
Your eyes are deceiving my fight
Cause I can’t hold on
And I can’t move on

I feel ya. I was rolling into Albuquerque, about 2 in the morning when this song came on from a random shuffle of music I was listening to. And it hit me hard, as my old man a truck driver as well is losing his fight. Keep her shiney side up driver.

Whiskey Myers is one of the best bands around today. Cody sings from his heart and the band represents all his lyrics so well. They have done it on their own terms and have been able to make music that means something because of it. I lost my father not long ago and every time I hear this song it brings me back to how much I love him. Musicians write songs and they can mean so many different things to the listeners but great songs like this one always touch a heartstring. Love it!

Lost my dad 30 years ago. We had worked together for years. Hard to lose. 4 years ago lost my son of 43 years, he and I like my father and me worked together for years. Always had our backs. Hardest lick I have ever had to deal with. His youngest daughter has had a son, that has a lot of his features and temperment. Maybe he and dad sent him to me in their absence until I can get there. Nothing here is important now, just waiting.

This song is such a scary truth, the older I get the more I worry for my parents and my kiddos, thats why you love with all your heart and keep in mind that family if your fortunate to have is golden and life itself is so fleeting, be good to each other no matter the differences. We only get one shot at this whole camping trip.

Am I the only one who is hearing Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam in his voice in this song???? My wife and I were dumbfounded when we first heard this song the other day....unmistakable and we both immediately caught the similarity. Have heard most all Whiskey Myers' songs (or so we thought), but this one is the only one I hear Vedder in. One of our favorite bands, up there with Skynyrd, Blackberry Smoke, Black Crowes, and Cody Jinks. Don't know how we missed hearing this song, as long as we've been fans of theirs but glad we did. Thanks guys for what you do.
