Maker's Mark is a great bourbon. You can drink a lot and wake up feeling more or less baseline and NOT hungover which is the sign of a good quality whiskey.

I think this is one of the few bourbons that has a scotch like smoothness. Most of them are very unsophisticated with big deep flavours full of character with a sweetness in the background. I like that wild spirit Bourbon has no other whiskey brings, but there is a reason scotch is king. If you want to experience Rebounds of Bourbon and Scotch in the same bottle this is it.

M.M is increadible..K.C smells like the best Irish whisky I've had. The finish; M.M long and robust. Strong and pleasant down the throat. K.C increadibly smooth..No taste at all but so gentle and sippable..,my wife preferred Knob Creek but I will have Maker's for Christmas

Maker's Mark and Maker's 46 are my go to bourbons lately. From original Maker's I get the notes of vanilla, spice, oak and caramel and also a definite hint of cherry in the nose. From the '46' I get all those notes but also a toasted bread adding to the complexity.. quite delicious imo.

Greetings Horst, love your KZbin channel. It's now 2022 and I'm late to the Maker's Mark tasting and review. I lost my liking for bourbon in my youth, drinking (and expelling) Jack Danials Old #7. I happened upon Maker's Mark while on holiday two years ago and was pleasantly surprised with its smooth flavor. I appreciated your review because what you tasted is what I tasted as well and that is what has kept me a loyal fan of Maker's Mark. I've been playing catch-up on your other tastings. I've already found several other whisky's I'd like to try. Thanks!

Ah, Maker's Mark, it may be my favorite. I like the smoothness that the summer wheat brings to the taste. Many whisky's are a bit too spicy for me from the rye, Makers uses a high percentage of corn (70%) and no rye. I like it very much. I have also had a bottle of the 46 and its a bit spicy for me. Perhaps my taste needs to mature a bit? Love the quality of the bottle. Thanks, another nice review. I take it you are German? I spent many nice years in Germany, Schweinfurt in particular, while I was serving in the Army and have a very memory of Bayern and Germany and a whole. Thanks!

You have a way of articulating the qualities in what you taste that is purely captivating.... I also sipped along this time around as you artfully dissected the flavors of this TN bourbon as I've sipped along to two others you did on Scottish Whisky from Tomatin. Twas a pleasure having a drink w/you again and likely shall again sometime soon.... Cheers from Eau Claire, Wiscosin (USA), Jesse..... --funny little half related side note-- I thought it to be interesting that my favorite scotch (Tomatin Legacy/Dualchas *USA*) is finished in former Maker's Mark barrels in addition to the virgin oak. I can actually taste on the very first note of that scotch the influence of this bourbon....

Yeah, you going to go on about how "smooooth" it is... lame. Canadian whisky sucks 99% of the time due to its lack of flavour development and overall shittiness. Try some sherried speyside. Heavily prayed islay or deeply oaky bourbon. Not "crown and ginger" Crap Royale. Words from a canadian!

@rafael66934 жыл бұрын
@Valdis4418 many people when they taste wisky's they taste supermarket ones where most of them are very young and not matured enough. that is the reason why many people don't like the taste. try Lagavulin 16 or even a 12 YO Aberlour (very easy drinking). i have a Glendronach 18 sherry cask here with me. At that price you probably will never buy it. but i am pretty sure once you tried it you would probably not say that again. try climbing to this ones around 12 YO they are all between 35-60€ they are totally worth it.

I apologize for possibly too much detail... Since starting with Scotch I have been looking for a Bourbon or other Corn based Whisky to enjoy and I haven't found anything that I really like in a Bourbon or Tennessee Whisky (all I've found are drink-able, but not, for me, enjoyable). After some Google search, sites pointed to Maker's Mark as potentially a Bourbon with some of the qualities of Scotch. I came here, and saw that you seemed to like this Product. After my purchase I was disappointed in the taste. I had heard a tip that for Scotch drinkers just try to pretend you are tasting Ice Cream and you won't be disappointed in a Bourbon. This idea didn't work for me. The initial taste seemed like all other similarly priced Bourbon and then I got an old-cask taste, tastes like the charcoal wood you might scrape from the barrel after you empty it. Kind of a musty but not all that unpleasant taste. I probably need to give my bottle to friends who naturally appreciate Bourbon. For completeness I tried it highly diluted with Ice (retaining only a fraction of the taste I wondered it it would make a good diluted drink). That didn't seem to help much. I still got the musty taste. In sharing the information I figure I might learn something. Folks might respond with their impressions. I'm still searching for a US or Corn based product that has depth, like Scotch. Also I want to avoid any Rye grass taste. I find that naturally unappealing. Any thoughts about these observations?
@Wedelj8 жыл бұрын
That's an incredible amount of detail you put in there, and that's not an insult :) I was going to recommend you try out some Rye whiskeys, but you already addressed that. Maybe try Buffalo Trace or Bulleit? I've also heard good things about Weller's bourbon. I hope this helps. If not, you already know that you like scotch :)
@TheOriginalRaster8 жыл бұрын
Yes, good point. An update: I mixed the Makers Mark 50/50 with various Scotch (picking on a bottle of Scotch I had that I wasn't really enjoying) and the combo flavor was very interesting and great! And recently I found that as the Makers Mark bottle level lowered, the bottom third seemed to taste much better. Interesting. The latest suggestion I received: go for the Makers 46. I'll try that next. Thanks!
