What to do in Scotland: Go to Islay Pick up a bottle of Laphroaig 10 Get some dried peat Get a shovel (American shovels won't work here because they use metric) Go to the ocean shore, dig a small fire pit near the ocean. Put peat into hole, start a fire with the dried peat. If it is windy, stand near the ocean and enjoy the sea spray for a bit. If your fire pit is not receiving a reasonable amount of sea spray, sprinkle some sea water at the fire. If you were unable or unwilling to enjoy the sea spray, a manual application of sea water should be made to your face and clothes. You don't need to jump in or anything, just a light spray is fine. Pour a dram of the Laphroaig. Sit next to your fire and compare the nose from the Laphroaig to the combination of peat smoke and sea spray/water.

9:20 Years ago, we found out my parents had a random wild passion fruit plant growing on their river Bank. Apparently, they are hard to cultivate and don't produce fruit every year or something like that. We could never get it to sprout anywhere else. When I split open the fruit and smelled it and tasted it, it was something like a banana combined with an apple in scent and flavor. Interesting fruit tbh. Wish we could have got seeds to sprout in other places since this plant is buried in the weeds on their river bank.

You could see the Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh. 3,384 bottles on display as a whisky history, tastings, and a well stocked whisky bar at the end. It's right next to Edinburgh Castle, so that would be worth a visit too. If you're over near Skye, Eilean Donan Castle is quite interesting, particularly if you remember the Highlander film. And anywhere out of the city, you should find some Smidge insect repellent. Made in Scotland to keep clouds of blood-suckling insects away. I haven't been on many distillery tours, so can't wait to see what you get up to.

Give a shout out to Clan Lindsay if you're in the Lowlands. His name is Aaron and he might actually be related to Robert the Bruce (one of the guys from Braveheart). Maybe shout their motto Endure Fort (Endure bravely)! Balcarres House or Luffness Castle but looks like the other castles are just ruins. Enjoy plenty of Lowland whisky!

Glen Moray is my favourite whisky and my favourite distillery. If you're doing Speyside, Elgin is definitely a place worth checking out.
