A little late to this channel but had to say that I bought a bottle of the American Oak and holy moly it was so good I drank a little too much too fast. One of my new favorite scotches along with Glenfiddich 15. Love the channel.

When I first had Auchentoshan (American Oak), I was very unimpressed. Now, with the more whiskeys I drink - the more I find myself keep going back to it for a casual relaxed drink.

Glad you included Three Wood, which my brother-in-law brought along with him for Thanksgiving. After sampling it one night, he gave me the rest of the bottle before leaving because I'm the only other family member who drinks Scotch. Coincidently, I had some last night. I like the rich, deep flavors of Three Wood. My brother-in-law really likes the American Oak, but last few times, the liquor store around the corner just had Three Wood.

Ahhhh Auchentoshan 3 Wood, my fave. 👌🏻 It’s like they bottled up all my favorite Thanksgiving and Christmas memories.

Hell yeah, I have a bottle of the Auchentoshan American Oak and I love it. Really wanting to try the Three Wood since you guys bring it up all the time. Also, thanks to finding you guys, I now know how to pronounce Auchentoshan.

Tried Auchentoshan very recently, both the American Oak and the triple wood. Very decent, would definitely buy again.

Recently went back to this whisky. Although it’s not a favourite of mine I have to say it’s definitely drinkable. Can knock back 2 or 3 in quick succession without even thinking about it.

I was fortunate enough to go to Scotland with my wife for our honeymoon (Nova Scotia, Canada) Auchentoshan was our first distillery we went to, and Google has street view of the distillery and the pond out in front the of building that has the "Auchentoshan" sign. is where the bomb was dropped creating the pretty massive crater. We also got to taste the triple distilled spirit, I was amazed on how fruity and floral it was. We dipped our finger into the glencarin to taste it and you can literally feel the most of the alcohol evapouate off your finger before you taste it!

If I were to decorate my whiskey room. I would purposely make it look entirely different from the house so it felt like you were entering a different realm. Once inside 3 out of 4 walls will be bookshelves filled with whiskey categorized by type and country. There will be extremely comfy chairs and a coffee table at the center that folds out into a humidor. I press a button next to the light which turns the fans on so I can also pick and smoke a cigar in that very same room. The corners of the rooms will have surround sound for music and TV. It will be glorious.

I purchased a bottle of three wood yesterday on the recommendation (and taste sample) of an employee at a local wine and spirits store. Omg... it was good.. I wanted something "not so peaty" and although this has no peat what so ever.. I'll get some peat on the next bottle. I knew as soon as I had a taste I needed a bottle. The employee also recommended Nikka from the Barrel. I may need to try that too, very soon.

Putting together a flight for the father in law and could use some advice on the order: Glenfiddich 12 Classic Laddie The Arran The Bothy The Arran The Amarone Cask Ardbeg 10 Laphroaig Lore Octomore 8.1 Trying to not blow our palates out. The Laddie is 50% and the Arrans are cask strength, however I’m hoping the Islas will hold up. What do we think?

About a month ago I was super excited to buy Auchentoshan because it's the only lowland brand available in NC. I went with the American Oak, since it is much cheaper than the Three Wood. For me it is "bleh" on the nose and taste, kind of like the enthusiasm in this video.

I want see a large picture of the definitive single malt flavour profile map decaled on the wall like a compass and add a decent sized pin to label the whisky in question within the flavour quadrant profile. I see potential mooching advances where ribbons are hung for victorious moochings that had taken place. A battle for the preservation of oak if you will. Exploring lowlands is exactly an exciting chaser to speysides. Thanks!

I am also interested in the decorating a whiskey room thing. My vault is nothing but charcoal gray walls and cobwebs covering them and am in desperate need of an update. I did go to the Suntory distillery and picked up as many brochures, business cards, and maps I think that would be cool to frame, but kind of lame at the same time.
@reafkennedy30696 жыл бұрын
Decorations include barrels, signage, branded glassware and other memorabilia. The prescription framed would be a really cool piece.

Impressive comments Daniel. I never knew the part about losing barrels to a bombing. Thanks for that. Now, can you two please get some rest?

Just bought this the other day for $37 and it is quite pleasant. Not on par with like Red Breast, but I'd buy it again and will for sure sip on it frequently.
You know Daniel, if the whole point of Daniel month is that you can do whatever you want, just claim February and then mandate that the month moves to March... Don't you understand this game by now? I would suggest cancelling Rexmonth while you're at it, but that's too much fun to cancel.
@Sunny-jz3dy2 жыл бұрын
😂🤣😂🤣😂 Ahhh Yes! The Magnificent Bastard is coming out! lol.
@curtisbailey786 жыл бұрын
I think some maybe obvious but on-target decoration ideas would include stuff like maps (something like the regions of Scotch Whisky for example), and any old bits you can get from whisk(e)y production like wood from a discarded barrel, or even an iron from a barrel hung on the wall could stand on its own or be part of a decoration arrangement. You could also go for paintings of things like a barley harvest, the Realism movement of the mid 19th century is a good starting point, as those artists were rejecting the artifice of previous eras and focused on depicting everyday life. Cigar boxes/box tops could also be a potentially on-target addition.
@patmcdermott85476 жыл бұрын
Oh, goody - now I'll have to buy 20 to 40 whiskeys during March for "research". Damn, the sacrifices I make for Magnificent Bastardom!

There's a whisky distillery getting built in the lowlands (inverclyde) called ardgowan distillery
@scottclarke13506 жыл бұрын
David Mclean there’s a couple in Glasgow now with another getting built soon as well. Which kind of takes Auchentoshan’s “Glasgow’s whisky” thing away from them lol. Annandale in Dumfries and Galloway in the lowlands has started producing again as well as king barns so there a bit of a boom happening for lowland whisky which is cool

what does the term rested refer to in regards to whiskey?
@InvntdXNEWROMAN6 жыл бұрын
After it's been poured, resting allows oxygen to penetrate and break down specific chemicals in the whiskey which changes the armoa and the tasting notes. This change can be subtle or drastic.
@Tacocheesecake6 жыл бұрын
@@InvntdXNEWROMAN I meant in terms of using it on a bottle, such as Jack daniels rested rye

Someone was definitely slightly more than half cut during this take. I'm drinking this whisky right now as I type. I even have the fancy correct shaped glass. I don't know about any of these flavours you talk about. On "the nose" it burns, In the mouth it burns. And it's smoky. Which is all I need. A good guzzling scotch. ( I am Scottish on my mother's side ). It's much better than the Glenlivet Caribbean reserve I just polished off but I think I'll still end up drinking it in coffee. It was on offer. Bargain at £22 here in the UK. Now, I'm off to get drunker than that guy⬆
