Definitely some good bottles of sherry whisky out there, but finding one for a good price is the hard part. Love the review! Slainte!

Sherried whisky can be truly spectacular, but so often it seems like casks are chosen for darkness over quality these days and there's a lot of whisky out there that's been absolutely bludgeoned to death with very mediocre sherry. (Looking at you, Glenallachie.) I have no time for that stuff... I'd rather drink newmake. Tamdhu doesn't seem to have fallen into that trap, though. This is good stuff. Sherry casks, even the good ones, aren't what they were 20 years ago... but there's still good sherried drams out there.

Previously my value sherry bomb whisky’s were the independent bottlings but those have crept up on price. I would say if you want to get into the sherries scotches and there is a total wine or big box liquor store near you keep an eye out. I got the Tamdhu 1”5 years at total wine for $94 before tax. Not the deepest discount but I felt I got my money’s worth.

As a sherry lover Tamdhu is my favorite brand. Also Tamdhu ages only in oloroso sherry casks (no PX in there). Here in Germany you are getting the 15 for $85 and the 18 for $160 :)

In this space lI would say GlennAllachie 15 year is good. I’d also look at Aberlour A’Bunadh or their 15 year.

I finished the bottle with difficulty: for me it is too sweet, it lacks structure and is not well balanced.
