Hey man, thanks for doing these helpful videos. I've been dying to try the pricier Lagavulin, Ardbeg and Caol Ila but haven't taken the plunge yet as the price puts them in the 'special occasion' bracket but I know they wouldn't last very long :) Still, it's good to get some decent comments and comparisons for when my will finally breaks. Keep it up!

The sweaty leather note is the reason I love this brand. It is the spirit of sea water from the isle. A bit iodine -like.

I've got the 2011 and 2012 editions of Laga 12yo, but haven't opened them yet. Interesting notes, nice to have an idea what to expect from it. Planning a comparison vid for Laga 16 and the Laga DE which I'll hopefully get to during the holidays. It'll be a few weeks before the next vid I post; I recorded one before Thanksgiving but I wasn't really happy with it and I got too busy to rerecord it before I came back to work. And now I'm indisposed until after Christmas, but we'll see what happens. I've planned Aberfeldy 12, Strathisla 12, Dalwhinnie 15 vs Dalwhinnie DE, Lagavulin 16 vs Lagavulin DE, and possibly Macallan CS vs A'bunadh vs Glenfarclas 105, but I probably won't get to that until January. We'll see. Anyway, great video, as always!

Great review and completely agree, the 12 is a much cleaner expression. Kilchoman 100% Islay is another well-produced, bourbon-matured peated whisky. It has been compared to Lagavulin 12 although (from what I remember) they are different. Perhaps because the Kilchoman is younger. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Yeah, I was thinking "kilchoman" in the back of my head while tasting the Lagavulin 12. Might have to do a comparison there in the future!
