Horst I must say this is the best presentation and informative information on the flavor characteristics and how they are produced along with the differences in the shapes and size of the stills that influence the flavor profile. You truly are at the highest level of whisky reviwers here or anywhere. Thank you Sir Leuning!

This is valuable knowledge, thank you for sharing this! There is another aspect that influence the spirit ( I think ) And that is how the still is heated. Glenfarclass and springbank both use direct fire I believe

What should I watch out for if I am looking for a full bodied whisky, but the fullness should not come from external aromas like peat, oak, sherry/wine/bourbon? What are whiskies that are distilled for fullness but the distillery uses only new casks (to avoid the aroma from what was in it before), and somehow makes sure the impact of the wood aroma is low?

Very interesting video, thanks for uploading. For cold temperatures though, lack of smell makes sense but is the difference very much for taste as well?

The taste buts get paralyzed by the the cold temperatures, like all the other nerves in the human body.

Enjoyed your thoughts in this video Horst...do u ever find yourself mixing your whiskys with anything?
@Whiskycom10 жыл бұрын
I only mix (dilute) it with water and only if the whisky has more than 50% ABV. I never use lime juice or coke.

Anyone have other good peated and unpeated examples that fulfill these criteria?
