Ardbeg Distillery Visit | Meet the Ardbeg Distillery

In the beginning, Ardbeg was a small moonshine distillery that had been in operation since 1794. The distillery is located on the south coast of the island of Islay, close to Port Ellen.
Ardbeg mainly produces strongly smoky malt whisky. Compared to other malts from Islay, Ardbeg's focus is less on the sea and salt aromas, but rather on spices, malt and sweet notes such as vanilla and chocolate.
Ardbeg's core range consists of the Ardbeg TEN, the Uigeadail, the Corryvreckan and the An Oa. The TEN is named after its age, the Uigeadail after Loch Uigeadail and the Corryvreckan bears the name of a famous sea eddy between the Isle of Jura and the Isle of Scarba. Ardbeg An Oa is inspired by the loneliest parts of Islay with the 'Mull of Oa', the south-westernmost spur of the Scottish Hebridean island.

Ardbeg is still one of my favorite distillers, I began my whisky journey with the ardbeg 10 lagavulin 16 and Laphroaig quarter Cask, where the most people begin with softer ones.. I also do like highlanders and speysiders as well but I go always bag to Islay whiskys.. So ardbeg go forth with the good job 💪

Glad to see this video. I'm drinking the Ardbeg 10 year right now. I'm not a usually in the mood for a peated scotch, but when I am, I go for Ardbeg 10 or the Bruichladdich Port Charles 10 (usually Ardbeg, because it's so much less expensive for nearly the same quality and taste. I would love to support Lagivulin, but not as long as they insist on the deceptive practice of adding caramel color. They have no respect for their customers, so I return the sentiment.

That’s highly debatable .. I love Ardbeg, but I wouldn’t rank it as the best distillery on Islay, and for sure I wouldn’t call it the best distillery in the world. But I know Ardbeg and Laphroig have many hardcore fans.

You’re absolutely right, the volume is too low (especially at the beginning), just ignore the “know-it-all” geniuses. “Turn up the volume” - *krch krch* .. Usually whisky lads aren’t that dense.
