I like blended malts, there are not enough of them. They are quite rare to find and they are usual good. It is very rare to find a blended malt at batch strength.

You should take a look at Compass Box expressions.

I like good blended malts - it is not always easy to find them though

Thanks for posting the review, impossible to find anyone with stock left here in Australia. I do like the GoT Clynelish, very nice and a good pick up when heavily discounted.

Wemyss have rebranded their bottles - so expect new stock in 2021 (I hope)

Your shelves in the background reminded me I'm out of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked and Four Roses Single Barrel... :-)

I only ever had one bottle from Wemyss, and that was a five yaer old Spice King. I had some samples from Wemysss included in the fifth and sixth editions of the Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar from Seret Spirits... I was not very impressed with any of them.

Can I just say that this "bitterness" thing is something I'm encountering more and more with whisky these days and it can be found in all styles and all ages. Water very often helps but I feel as though I'm performing surgery. It can be a distillery style but I know from drinking single barrels that isn't usually the case. I think it's from mixing well used casks in the vatting. I like the review but for some reason this bottling doesn't excite me. It's young, high abv and cheap which alerts my whisky spider sense. Peat can work in that combination, not always. It's a real shame that today I'm so cautious about cheap (not really cheap) NAS stuff with good reason. I wonder if my palate is either experienced or tired but the cost of whisky and the price/quality ratio increasingly poor. Final thing, I just finished a superb bottle of Wray and Nephew rum which is 63% and £25 a bottle.)

I wish I had a better whisky spider sense - I bought a lot of losers in 2020
