The Glen Grant 12 was a pleasant surprise, and the 15 was a huge step up from the 12. The 15 is strong yet soft, complex yet easy to enjoy and in my opinion a damn good whisky.

I’m happy the strengths are better than they used to be! I too love the 15 though some say there is wild batch variance, so ask a friend if they tried the latest batch before buying! Cheers my friend🥃🥃🥃🥃

You mentioned Glenlivet Nadura And you said it's too fiesty it is super flavorful and I believe it's 16 years old but could you imagine if they released a 20-year one? Oh my God because I loved it as is but it fit got older and 12-16years it would be probably the best one of their releases
@WhiskyWhistle2 ай бұрын
Formerly 16 years old you’re right! Now they don’t put an age statement anymore. The current “first fill selection” as they call it - younger but great casks - needs some time in the glass. It is a tad fizzy/prickly but tasty. Oloroso Nadurra is quite nice too. Yep, wish they put out a 21 year old Nadurra but they’d charge $400 USD for it. Crazy world out there! Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃

Finally got around to opening up this bottle of GG15 I’d purchased back in January and I thought I’d rewatch your review while I enjoyed the neck pour. I gotta say Mark that the apple notes did finally come through after several minutes in the glass and it is very enjoyable. Nice surprise given the price point ( I paid roughly $88 delivered and tax in for my bottle) and I’m pretty happy with my initial impressions. Cheers! 😃🥃

Yesss! Wow great price Ron! I’ll definitely get another especially if it is on sale. It’s kind of like the quality of the old Glenfiddich 15 distillers reserve which was 50% - only the GG15 is at regular retail shops! Cheers my friend🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃

Mark, this glen grant 15 is coming to the Manitoba L.C at $98, but it's 50% abv whereas this one in your vid was 51 abv, what do you think, should I grab it once it arrives?

Excellent comments at the beginning there about Peat or Sherry cask snobs or those in general who turn their noses up at Speysiders. I'm with you bro. It states on the label and I can confirm that this 15 YO is matured exclusiIvely in First-Fill Ex-Bourbon casks. I am puzzled why some reviewers claim they can identify some sherry cask influence. They are obviously misidentifying some flavour notes somewhere. Yes, it is a bit annoying that the marketing couldn't leave this alone and introduce a nonsense term like Batch Strength. It's also incredibly frustrating that just like the Glenlivet Nadurra (which ironically means "natural ") they add colour here as well. I have to admit to being very disappointed with Glen Grants current lineup, including the 18 Year Old which are just so bland and mediocre conpared to the old 10 Year Old in the white box and my favourite, the dearly departed 16 Year Old, a favourite of the Travel Retail around 10 years ago plus. Glen Grant are also amazing at 20, 30, 40 plus years. So I am intrigued by this 15 Year Old. I cannot as yet find it in Israel but am looking out for it. Many have given this 15 YO very bad scathing and insulting reviews but perhaps that's in reaction to one out of favour reviewer who made it his whisky of the year, which frankly, even you would agree I think, is a bit of a joke. So, it's nice to find what sounds like a totally objective and thorough review from you. I will out look for it. Thanks my friend.
@WhiskyWhistle2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Reb! Perhaps the distillate plus the first fill ex bourbon makes some think there’s a touch of Sherry in there. To my palate it’s plain as day all ex bourbon but you know that’s “ma jam”. I don’t doubt Ralfy had a bad batch or perhaps a poor cork? I’d be interested to find out the bottle code on his bottle and see what others are saying on Whiskybase. Funny how on the surface to newbies it’s the same bottle but as your palate develops the batch variance becomes more in focus. The 18 is a tad weak. I bought a new 10 last year which I’ll get to. I’m with you on the 16 which I was fortunate enough to enjoy in the last two years before the switch. The upped strengths is nice though. As it’s still very reasonable, and based on my experience and my club who all were thrilled with the value and profile, I hope you try it. There’s zero chance you’ll get the same batch as the big guy. Cheers my friend always a pleasure. I’m in Seoul at present just taking care of some personal matters. Nice to be away from “Winterpeg”! Cheers brother🥃🥃🥃🥃 Mark

Ralfy just reviewed this and gave it the lowest score I have ever seen from him - a 72!. I have an unopened bottle in storage from last year. It looks like the same as your bottle so I am holding out hope that it is decent stuff. But Ralfy is bringing me down.
@tagontag2 жыл бұрын
Ralfy's bottle might be different from yours, and it will be so wrong to just be anxious because of a review. Trust your taste and give it a go. It is not that uncommon to open a bottle of substandard whisky from time to time, be it the cheap NAS bottling, premium aged blended whiskies, small batch independent bottling, or standard bottling from luxury brands.
@WhiskyWhistle2 жыл бұрын
Coming at this late @xiamengbaby but Vic is right, don’t be dissuaded. I think one mistake by Glen Grant is not indicating the bottling year. I’m sure the code on the back will show more information from sites like Whiskybase however. When I get home I’ll confirm. For sure it’s a different batch as mine is 750ml and Ralfy’s is 700ml. To be sure, it is unchillfiltered and says on the back of the bottle(yes, illegible gold lettering lol) and this is 100% 1st fill ex bourbon. Typically my scores are in the ballpark so my first thought when I saw Ralfy’s review was, that’s a bad batch he got! Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃

Are they paying you to say all this nice stuff? I bought this 1st edition and I have to say I’m thoroughly disappointed. It was very hot and regardless of water it stays hot. It really hits like it younger than 15 yrs old and honestly not worth the $90 I paid here in New York. When I compare the many other bottles I can buy for the same money I’m left upset about buying this. It’s nothing special at all, I don’t suggest you buy this.
