I've never dealt with coyotes before but from my experiences dealing with feral dogs I would recommend you stand your ground. Don't let them aggress you especially when they're on their own. Making noises, being loud, stomping, charging, and making yourself seem big and aggressive typically seems to work. What do I know tho.

It would be hard to get someone to answer their door, and once you walk up to the door way, the coyotes could trap you there. I would have started yelling. Third story....... coyotes are NOT the "growing problem" in neighborhoods, the PROBLEM is with DEVELOPMENT in the ANIMALS TERRITORY.
@martlettoo
@martlettoo Жыл бұрын
Scientific studies have shown that, because of family and territory structure, killing and trapping coyotes actually RAISES the number of coyotes, so actually the problem with their numbers is people cruelly killing them instead of doing something to reduce their access to people's pets, livestock, and trash. So, you know, being responsible, thinking ahead and/or spending some money to solve the problem before there is one, or acknowledging that when there is a problem it's OUR fault (usually for acting like they're a 'pest' and shouldn't be there even though they are native). But of course THAT will never happen, because it's fast and almost free to just murder them and make the problem worse. (And yes, before anyone asks, I have livestock, I've lost livestock to wild animals, and I ALWAYS blame myself and not them)

@martlettoo
@martlettoo Жыл бұрын
@@thesoberdrunkman9845 that literally doesn't matter, and you clearly didn't read my post. We are creating more problems for ourselves by killing them. A literal coyote expert told me this to my face. You're a dumb f***ing apex predator if your response to a problem with another species actually causes the other species to be more numerous and successful. Apex predator also means nothing in terms of success, evolution, or nature in general. It's a human concept just like 'alphas', and apex predators are actually in the most unstable position on the totem pole. There are more mosquitos than humans on the planet; so who really owns it?

Idk if you have other channels or not but either way I like what I hear and good luck . I'm sure you're Finna blow up. My bf and I used to hike in Glendale CA, where coyotes are everywhere. We used to only both be available late in the afternoon for hikes, often finishing right at sundown. One time when my work let off late, we started our hike a good 40 minutes past our usual time. We were finishing our hike up with the flashlights on our phones since it was pretty dark out at that point, and we were nearing the end of the path just moments away from the pedestrian entrance/street. Suddenly we heard a large rustling noise from the forest. We both turned around to face the threat and sure enough it was two coyotes rushing us, with a pack of several more trailing behind them. We both yelled our loudest towards them with our feet planted down firm and they dashed off. We sprinted to the streets where other people were walking around, etc. Looked it up later online and apparently it's extremely rare for coyotes to attempt attacking humans like that. But after seeing stories in comment sections and videos like this, idk what to believe!

The coyote story scared me. I live out in the woods and have cats and small dogs. A pack of coyotes lives in the area and some night they come really close to the house. On those nights, their yapping wakes me up and I go stand outside for a while to scare them off. Thankfully they're usually cowards around people so they move along and leave. Coyotes surrounding a person is rare but not impossible; they definitely wanted her poor little dog. Coyotes are a big danger to small pets and kids. Edit: okay this sounds like a case of coyote dogs. It's when coyotes breed with domestic dogs. This makes the offspring bigger and braver. It's a pretty big issue in parts of the US.

Just be careful & especially never let them out at night. My brother in law's pit bulls all disappeared one by one when he lived outside of town. Later, he'd find the remains out behind the house. If you see a single coyote and you're a grown adult all you have to do is stand your ground and be loud. They aren't that big and generally will just run away if you yell at them and confront them. The entire pack? That's obviously more dangerous but when they saw that one set of eyes they shouldn't have turned to walk away. That just gives them the confidence to pursue you.

So, I really enjoy horror stories, creepy pasta, and general spooky vibes. Out of curiosity, why is it that so many narrators feel the need to speak in questions? This basically ruins an otherwise good narration for me, and it doesn’t really make a ton of sense. I strongly recommend taking some notes from Lighthouse Horror’s narrative style personally. He avoids this and manages to provide probably the best narration I’ve heard in this niche of videos.

For all you city folk that aren't familiar with coyotes they typically will just follow you and rarely if ever would ever attack a human. If your dog got separated quite a ways from you it's likely that they might try to attack the dog for food or territory but would never attack you. Besides coyotes hunt and packs not typically by themselves. I used to walk my small Yorkie all over the place through a large Park in the middle of the night and it wasn't uncommon to be followed by one to five of them at a time. Just stay calm and don't try to run them off.

Coyotes don't hunt in packs like wolves do. They are solitary animals.

I’ve been chased by a pack of coyotes before, they aren’t going to attack u. They are just curious, the lady in story three was fine to just keep walking. Scary? Yes. Dangerous? Not really.

Those coyotes let the man off, they could've easily had him. Maybe they were trying to push him out of their territory

The third story is why we need controlled hunting of animals like coyotes. If they are allowed to use us as a food source and walk freely with no fear of humans, and no other predators to hunt them in our towns, they will attack us.

Or the guy broke in to the house while the storyteller was at their sister's place, found they weren't there and returned home. Came back for the third and final time a few days later
