Writing in your cookbook is also something that your kids are gonna treasure when they're older I know I treasure a lot of writings of my parents and grandparents it's just something about physically having that there with you that is So wonderful 💗💗💗

Hope you're feeling better, Jill. I also love to write in my cookbooks. Not just notes about the recipes, but also for which occasions I used each recipe and some of the fun things that happened with the family during the gathering. I also like to note in the front of the book when and where I got the it, including any little fun notes about coffee shop visits that day etc. Now that my kids are all grown, it's such fun to look back at these diaries of family life. :) xo

Our little Central Texas town is iced in ... worse ice that last February...streets are sheets of ice ... got my truck stuck this morning after hitting black ice ... had wonderful people helping me. Ice is no joke when it is 4-5 inches thick and back to back hard freezes that ruins everything that possibly tried to melt. Hoping tomorrow will get us thawed.

We lived in South Texas for 5 years in the '80s ( including hurricane Alicia '83) and it snowed once but didn't even stick to the ground and natives were freaking out ,even wrecking in their vehicles, was on their news stations. Being from Indiana, we couldn't relate then ,but after a few years, we too, got cold in winter there because our bodies had adjusted to the summer heats

What is the container you use for your starter? Looking forward to buying some of 'Otis'. The best way I've found to make big holes in bagels is to use your two pointer fingers in the hole and roll your fingers over each other, kinda like twiddling your thumbs. The hole needs to be way bigger than you think. Feel better soon. ❤ NathanNeedsASide-By-Side 😉

This may be a dumb question...but I thought you had to let the starter 'breathe' or open to air to capture the wild yeast in the air? I see that you covered yours with a tight lid. How does that still work? Thanks for the video on making bagels - one thing that I have not made myself yet and want to try...❓⁉❓
