Buckethead's music is like water. You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. In the same way Buckethead's music just fits into anything. Any mood, any situation, anything. You listen to it, it becomes a part of your soul. That is the power of lyricless music.

Wow. What a great way to describe it. I feel the same way about it. He has a album/song thats called Rivers In The Seas. Each of us is a little river & by uniting & coming together we flow all into the same sea of peace & happiness. We share the same blood, dreams hopes & same mother. Mother earth that is. If peace & serinity would have an actual sound. Thats what it would sound like. Bucketheads music is almost surreal. How 1 man can compose over 300 records & still sound fresh & exciting is beyond my comprehension. I actually write beautiful poetry to go along with his songs. Im.currently working on Underneath The Arctic. Which most likely is an outcry to Climate Change. Cheers

Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”_ -- Bruce Lee

I believe the bucket and mask helps him alot in dealing with anxiety when performing but also from happenstance as he put them on one day and a friend dared him to go on stage like that if i recall and he said it just felt right. Theres an interview he did if you're interested in digging deeper into his persona kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5nNgmido9KEpsU I can't pretend to know what your going through and I'm not really sure what to say but I wanted to write to let you know your not alone and all us BH fans are here for you!

No parent should have to feel the pain of outliving their child. That's a tough pill to swallow man. There has been no confirmation that he has asperger's or is somewhere on the autism spectrum but that has always been my impression of him. Clearly his brain is functioning on a different wavelength than your average mouth breather. He may well be a savant. I mean it makes perfect sense, the mask and kfc bucket are a way to hide his insecurities and neuroses. I even know an autistic teenager who wears a bunny mask and gloves when he has to interact with anyone. He says he doesn't like to feel exposed when he talks to people and the security he gets from it makes it so he can carry out normal conversation. If he didn't have his mask he all he could think about was how he didn't like not having it and be unable to think about anything else let alone converse. So for buckethead maybe he uses it when he plays so he feels safe and calm and is able to astound us all with guitar playing that at times borders on something the rest of us do not have the ability to comprehend. He claims to channel and harness the energy from all the dead chickens kfc has slaughtered over the years to help him play guitar. So alternatively the bucket is a conduit for the spirits of billions of dead chickens. So either autism or chicken based necromancy is how he plays like that. Or maybe he sold his soul to the devil

My husband introduced me to Buckethead just a few months ago. It’s beautiful and angelic to begin, the way his music cradles the most raw, suppressed emotions and gently unravels the pain, sorrow, and sadness that I buried long ago to survive. And in turn, with the power of his melody - building my strength, courage, and the will own my emotions as they are. When they are. Specifically To acceptance, compassion and understanding. My forever drained energy and absolute need to gradually unwind all the intertwined complexity’s of my past, he releases a piece of my spirit- with every note he resonates from his soul. I would consider myself fortunate to ever make it to a concert. I can only imagine what it could provide my soul... to be surrounded, and musically be fully captivating, diminishing the heartaches, and set my spirit free. Thank you for what you’ve given, not only me as well as my husband. Truly captivating and healing.

He writes and plays some of the best "Head" music … Reminds me of Jean Luc Ponty's violin stuff from the 70's and early 80's. It just takes you away, and then you melt into your seat.

I like how you mention Jean Luc Ponty. He was my introduction to jazz fusion. I was introduced to Buckethead via "Hearts of Space," which is a program of ambient electronic space music. Little did I know, he is a master of more than one genre!
