I was there on Friday near the whale bones but I live in Teesside so it was my first ever vist thank good I don't live far away

Gothic has absolutely nothing to do with Dracula etc.. it's a type of Anglo Saxon architecture that was transformed by Augustus pugin into his own type of architecture.. for instance the houses of parliament..

Goth or Pride, there's not a great deal to distinguish other than the contrast in colours😅

Whitby goth events were once great things indeed but in recent years it was under threat of being cancelled because of all the costume street loiterers taking up hotel rooms but not actually buying tickets for the actual events which meant genuine event goers couldn’t attend,it was madness

Sad to see the Goth Weekend became a fancy dress parade.. Krampus run is still alive and kicking. A piece of pure Whitby

It is such a shame that the WGW has been ruined by steampunk and people in fancy dress. I started going in the 1990's when it was goth and it was amazing. Goth is a way of life. Steampunk just seems to be old people trying to be radical and seeking attention for being different at the weekends. Why don't they stick to their own gatherings and leave ours alone?

@@anjizetland-von-kiesel3346 I aqree being a Goth is a lifestyle not dressing up for one day. Its all about bringing the tourists in spending money the name should be changed to Whitby fancy dress party.

@@BlackDahlia776 All the Goths should turn up to Lincoln Stampunk Weekend and turn it into a Goth event, see how they like it! When I first went to Whitby in 2008, I was a bit baffled who the Steampunks were. I mean never saw them at the Goth Clubs in Bristol, so why were they here? Oh yes, seeking attention.

@@Delabanefacts, this and the "tourists" who are not even in any subculture and are just attending to watch the people like animals in a zoo. Those are one of the many reaons I do not want to visit the WGT in Germany. The same issues can be found here too.
