Whitby goth events were once great things indeed but in recent years it was under threat of being cancelled because of all the costume street loiterers taking up hotel rooms but not actually buying tickets for the actual events which meant genuine event goers couldn’t attend,it was madness

It is such a shame that the WGW has been ruined by steampunk and people in fancy dress. I started going in the 1990's when it was goth and it was amazing. Goth is a way of life. Steampunk just seems to be old people trying to be radical and seeking attention for being different at the weekends. Why don't they stick to their own gatherings and leave ours alone?

@@BlackDahlia776 All the Goths should turn up to Lincoln Stampunk Weekend and turn it into a Goth event, see how they like it! When I first went to Whitby in 2008, I was a bit baffled who the Steampunks were. I mean never saw them at the Goth Clubs in Bristol, so why were they here? Oh yes, seeking attention.
