Is this the best time of year to see such marine life off this part of the coast? We were over from Melbourne in May last year, but June next year is a doer for us if this is what we're in for.
@thewhitbyphotographer3 ай бұрын
Normally the best month for Dolphins and whales is September as that is when the herring comes together to spawn. However, the other summer months can be ok too.

You were so lucky. I never knew this kind of stuff is in this area how long do the dolphins usually stay?

Hi, The Dolphins are ever present on the coast now. They seem to always be at Scarborough, but From May through October they make a lot of appearances at Whitby.
@roderickjoyce67163 ай бұрын
@@thewhitbyphotographer We can see them up the coast off Tynemouth and Whitley Bay. I'd post my photos but they are not nearly as good a s your videos. :)

Keep your eyes peeled. Best chance is Scarborough or Whitby. Ive been whale watching at Whitby today on the yellow boats and still lots of whales about.

@@thewhitbyphotographer we've been to the nature reserve at Flamborough, absolutely stunning and 100s of seals sunbathing on the rocks.

The thing that stands out for me are not tge whales n dolphins, but the guillemots feasting on sandeels. That's great. Get the sand eels recovered and tge upper but of the predation triangle sorts itself out. Could do with losing a lot òf those seals. Come in orcas- KFS meal deal.
@thewhitbyphotographer3 ай бұрын
Thats right Mark. I think over the past 3 to 5 years we have seen an explosion of Marine Life around our inshore waters, and it's all down to Herring and Sandeel recovery. If we look after the food that the marine life eat then it can only continue to improve.
