Such a powerful account Hakim. I’m a Ghanaian and to me you’re a Ghanaian. Full respect to you for what you have achieved. Salute. That upbringing is powerful and yes that’s typical of a West African home, very similar to South Asian homes. I had the same upbringing at home in London and my dad would set us homework to complete evening morning and would expect it completed by the time he got back from work the next day. Love conquers all and clearly you loved your grandad very much. He loved you too. I’ve been to India and I’ve actually got more friends who are Asian than Ghanains or even white. I must say I was in Indian for 3 weeks and it’s just like Africa. Everything is literally the same. Please hurry and holiday in Ghana and I promise you you will go there every year. Ghana is booming, vibrant with youth and class. It’s super fun, lots of rooftop bars that makes you feel like you’re in New York but with the African vibe and weather. Honestly is modern too and so multicultural in Accra you. I met lots of Asian Ghanaians in a bar called SkyBar in Accra and they spoke my language Twi, their heritage has been in ghana over 100 years and they would tell you their Ghanaian not Asian. I thought I was the most Asian African in UK but Chale in Ghana I was pleasantly surprised by how multicultural it is and how everybody is so free. I would love in Ghana any day. In fact about from the pound sterling, there’s no comparison when it comes to personal freedom. Ghana is the life ❤

Well spoken, Hakeem, our brother. God bless for speaking the real truth about your good grandfather (RIP), and the Ghanaian/Nigerian/West African positive culture. What you said about the celebration of Christmas and Eid is true, and the same in Nigeria, too. I am Nigerian, and in West Africa, we're always co-mingling with our Ghanaian brothers and sisters in marriage, music, movie industry and football. During international tournaments, if Ghana's playing, we watch with so much enthusiasm and interest as if it's Nigeria playing, cheering them on. And when they win, we feel like we won. We celebrate. The relationship between the two countries is a lot better now as you must have experienced in your friendship with Nigerians. When you visit Ghana, do well to complete the visitation by coming to Nigeria. You're much welcome. We cherish family a lot, a great deal. This was refreshing to watch. How you narrate your experiences with your grandfather pulls us in and it’s so relatable to our own experiences with our Ghanaian parents. All through the video i kept smiling and thinking about your grandad and imagined him beaming with smiles and pride over your achievements and how well you speak of him. ❤❤🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭

You weren’t seeing true Black or African American culture on tv. You were seeing propaganda of what the powers that be would want the world to believe about Black/AA people. We are a multifaceted, dichotomous people, including our African lineage and heritage. We are all blessed by the people and experiences we have in our lives. Much honor to your Grandfather!

I agree but too many African Americans associate American blackness with violence, poverty, and lack. We don't believe in our own greatness.

How lucky are you . I came up on your conversation. I'm Afro American I just want to say Hollywood portrayed Afro Americans it is all a myth. But unfortunately the colonizers have gone all over the world creating negative myths about people. They do this to people confused.Im here to tell you the only thing that makes sense and stand the test of time is truth .Black people have a gift that we have been given from the universe. We can go anywhere in this world and it is home Because we go with true love acceptance understanding and an open mind.Oh this conversation is so full .It is one of those conversations that one could have until you see the sunrise in the morning😂😂😂😂😂😂who needs alcohol when you can get this kind of natural high.❤
