White asparagus is a type of asparagus grown underground and which is prevented from being exposed to sunlight, Its taste is less intense than the green asparagus. I like them both. THUMBS UP!!

Local strawberries are just ripening nicely, replacing the Italian ones. Looking forward to the cherry harvest - they’re still tiny and green on the trees.

Thank you! White asparagus tastes sweeter and juicier than the green varieties, which tend to be grassier. The only drawback is that you have to peel it, which is a bore - almost as tedious as ironing.

It does - maybe you noticed the long rows in the field with a cover? That’s how it grows, keeps the light away so it stays white, and the foils keep the warmth in.
